Hey All,
I just purchased a GL450 for my wife yesterday and have Sprint. I am told by the dealer that Sprint phones do not work. How can this be as bluetooth is a technology.
Anyone have Sprint and use bluetooth. I really want to buy the puck
Thanks

Between AWS and MB dealers, getting any cell phone/btooth questions answered is like a miracle or something close to it.
Go the dealer and go straight to parts/service. Tell them you want to try the puck before you buy it. They should let you plug it in and pair your phone with it and see how it works. If it works, buy it. If it doesn't, then don't
I'll be surprised if Sprint doesn't work at all. At worse you will only get handsfree (which by itself is worth the cost of puck) and at best you will get phone book download, 3 way calling, etc. Just try it.

Dealer told me NO and AWS said no. Dealer wont let me test a puck. I am just going to buy one. I am sure I will be able to place/receive calls. If not, I will sell it on EBAY.

I see no reason it will not work. Like you said, BT is a technology. There may be a few issues as oknish said, but that would most likely be based on the phone you have rather than the carrier.

I have a Treo 650 with Sprint and it works fine with the GL. It doesn't sync the address only the shortcut keys. Works just fine. Get the MHI cradle and you'll be fine.

My wife and I have sprint and we just updated our phones last week to the Samsung A640 with bluetooth. They work just fine with the puck. Originally Posted by Dtextransplant

if your lousy dealer won't "let you" test a puck, you need a new dealer. THere is absolutely no installation involved. In fact, when the new version came out, my dealer shipped me one and just told me to send back the one that i didn't want.
I was told once I take it from the counter, I own it. I am in Dallas and these clowns have a monopoly on MB.
BTW. What did you all pay for the puck.

I purchased from a dealer's ebay store for $350. There is no need to pay full retail. Here is the ebay link http://stores.ebay.com/Hammersley-BMW-Mercedes-Benz.Originally Posted by Dtextransplant

I think what they may mean is that your phonebook won't integrate with the phone in the car. Ive not seen/heard any issues with any provider, including the address book integration.

I've got an LG V phone through Verizon. The differences are in phone brands rather than providers. My LG basically uses the MB as a hands-free, where my wife's Motorola gets the phone book synched and all the options. BT is so not a standard yet, but it sometimes seems like MB's more interested in how cool the "puck" looks than how it works.

I bought my puck a couple of months before my GL arrived from a former forum member for $180!

It will be interesting to see who is first to get the iPhone and see if it pairs with the puck...
Knowing MB it will take them 2 years or so to come up with a cradle arrangement for it. That is unless the rumor that MB and Apple are collaborating on a totally integrated COMAND type system to replace the current setup is true...
Just think...with Apple as the developer the system "will just work!"

That is what my wife has and it works like a charm. I have a Blackberry 8700C (Cingular) and it works like a charm too. Only thing my BB doesn't do is 3 way calling. For those of you wondering about need for 3 way, I am on phone A LOT, and need to use 3 way quite often.Originally Posted by boxboss

I ain't heard that rumor yet but it does sound juicy. Can you, imagine, just put everything on a couple of iPods and you are good for the road with movies, music, etc. Kids can watch movies on RSE while front row folks can listen to music. Gotta wipe the drool of my face now.Originally Posted by Nevada Jack

Rumor puts Apple Nav System in Mercedes models by '09
By AppleInsider Staff
Published: 11:00 AM EST
A rumor making the rounds on the Internet this past weekend has Apple partnering with luxury automaker Mercedes-Benz to deliver a multifaceted navigational system sometime during the 2009 calendar year.
Citing unnamed sources, German Magazine Focus said the Apple-developed device will combine entertainment, communication and navigation in a single console system.
Mercedes will reportedly have a six-month exclusive (translation) on the product when it's made available sometime in 2009. Further details, such as integration of Google Maps for navigation, are said to be unclear.
No other information was provided in the two-paragraph report by Focus, which has no track record when it comes to predictions for future Apple offerings.
A host of top automakers already offer elegant iPod integration solutions to car buyers, but none include Apple-developed navigational or entertainment components.
In 2004, Apple teamed with Mercedes rival BMW in delivering the first seamless integration between iPod and a car audio system.

After reading that a Treo works hands-free. Is there any reason an iphone will not? I don't need the add book, just to be able to answer a call?
Thoughts???
Thoughts???
For all of u wondering. I purchased the puck and it does work on the Sprint Katana and Treo. Not all the phone book links.
Good news!!
BTW. Shame on MB for making us spend $400 for a adapter on a $70K SUV
anyways....It is a AWESOME SUV.

but don't see any reason why it won't. It should be able to answer calls at the minimum.BTW, those iPhones are hot and will carry a premium if you buy any place other than AT&T store.
