2008 GL 450 Pricing
Hi Guys - This is my first post to this forum and very impressed with the knowledge sharing on this board! 
I've been thinking about the X5 until I tested the GL this past weekend. The combination of 3rd row seat, power, and overall handling changed my heart. A SoCal dealer faxed me a couple of 08 GL450's yesterday. The base MSRP is $55,500 and P1 package is $6,400. With destination and delivery, the total price is $62,675.
The question is what discount can I expect for this SUV in the SoCal area?
BTW, I've been reading all the threads on the 550. Given our needs, can't justify another $14K for the extra 47HP + the bigger star ;-)

450 is a steal
GL 450 is a great deal right now and better overall than X5.. I infact I'm bring back my 04 X5 4.4 for a new GL550 this Oct.. I always wind up getting more than I need in my cars, but never regret it.... Only go around once in this game called life!
Posts say people are getting 10-15% off MRSP on 07 GL 450's.. they got move'em off lots for the 08's

There is 7% markup in the car. Take MSRP, deduct the freight, then reduce that number by 7%, now add back the transportation cost and you have dealer invoice on the car. I would start negotiating from there. I have a 320 CDI on order and am paying $700 over invoice ($500 +$195 Admin Fee).

Thanks! The dealer didn't have the right options for the 07 450 that I was looking for. Plus, my rationale is that I might get a better resale value for an 08 model. Hence I'm looking to purchase an 08 model.
Don't think I can get the same discount as the 07's given the $3K incentive and clearance. Wondering if perhaps a 8% off MSRP is reasonable for an 08 model?

Can you explain the Skid Plates (V8+ specific)? Is this the different one seen on the front of the Rabolo Red image posted by Stumblefoot?

I see from another thread that you are paying sticker. I think this will be the norm for the foreseeable future. Really, the vehicle is a bargain even at MSRP. I was lucky to find 2 dealers that were especially motivated. I'm not sure why but I am not asking questions. I am going to have to travel about an hour and a half to get the car; but to save $4000 I am willing! The dealers in my county stopped returning my calls when I tried to get them to price-match.

Start with invoice +$500 dollars and see where they go from there. It is always tough getting discounts on new model year early builds.

I was at a dealer today, and the rep was willing to do $1000 over invoice on 08 GL450. Sorry, I didn't get a chance to ask about the 320 or 550.

waiting 4 550 - I don't want to jinx it but we've been negotiating with sraj's dealer about an 08 550 since he posted 2 days ago. Here in SW FL there are about 5 dealers within 90 min of my house. In May of this year we could not get anyone to go below 2% off MSRP on an 07 450. The guy in Winston Salem is selling at invoice + 900. I bought my BMW 545 from a dealer ATL (Adrian Avilla at Nalley BMW)because no one near me could come close to the price. The discount was 20 times the price of a one way airfare. Thanks sraj - by the way you now have a "new" cousin!

The front Skid plate on the V8+ is different different and a little bigger than the V6 & V8...adding to the exclusivity.

I'm paying the same. This is the best deal we could get by far. 
Capri Blue with Black interior. It may not be the prettiest combo but with two boys to haul around the black interior will hide dirt the best. My wife likes the way the Capri looks black from some angles but blue from others. Will add a trailer hitch and get bluetooth - dealer recommends the latter as aftermarket. October delivery.
