BeanCounter, thank you. Stumblefoot, yeah, that's why you had a "0" next to your name. (I guess that means, "In attendance, no room needed.")

You know, if they can take a car from DC to Orlando on a train you ride on, you'd think they could take another from, oh, Chicago to LA or something.

So, no "ROAD TRIP!"?

Road plans

I think a trip to Red Rock on Saturday morning has been recommended and on the way back I propose a stop at a local casino for lunch and more pictures. It is right on the route to and from Red Rock. It has a great parking garage roof where all the GL's can be positioned with the owners.

After the pic taking...we can take the elevator to the Casino floor and have lunch at the Cafe or Buffet. Depending on the size of GL group, the buffet may be the best option. If it is too big I don't know how many the cafe can seat even if I try to reserve ahead of time. When it gets closer I can do some checking.

BTW the casino is called the Suncoast Hotel and Casino and is located on Rampart Blvd. and Alta Drive which is about 1/2 mile from Charleston Blvd. which is the road that leads to Red Rock.

Damn, you are persistent...:-)

They just changed the menu on the 1st and I have not seen the Cabbage Soup as soup of the day since. A lot of Mexican Bean and other hot, spicy stuff but no Cabbage Soup. I will inquire and find out the reason for this total disregard for one of their most steady customers!

Further, I will threaten them with taking my gambling budget of $60 a visit to another casino...that ought to scare the hell out of them...LOL

I know, I know, I know... with this travel schedule lately it's been what city am I off to today and how many more days until I get to try this cabbage soup?

You better tell them that regardless of what their menu says, that when we visit their fine establishment with our dollars ready to leap out of our pockets, they better have a special pot of that darn soup.

So, is everybody planning on staying at the Venetian? NJ & Mel, I know you guys have other places to stay. I just checked rates for that weekend and for Friday & Saturday night, it's going to run $900 for 2 nights. I just spent $1,000 on a new bumper & getting my hood fixed, so $900 is going to be too much for my budget. I'm looking at either Treasure Island ($558 for both nights) across the street or the Monte Carlo ($529 for both nights).

Have you considered off strip? The Red Rock Hotel and Casino is new and located on Charleston Blvd in Summerlin. Red Rock Canyon is in site and just a 5 minute drive away. The rates are cheaper than the strip and the strip is only about 20-25 minutes away. It is adjacent to the LV Beltway which makes an easy access to Flamingo Road which leads to the strip.

Here is the web address for it. http://www.redrocklasvegas.com/hotel/

Take a look at the Back to Basics package...$360 on weekend for two nights and a free breakfast in the Cafe. They have great places to eat, movie theaters and for bowlers a huge bowling center. First class place.

Jen,

I'm going to stay at Caesar's. They spoil me there and I like being on the strip.

I'd suggest staying at whatever location you like. NJ's place sounds really good and the price certainly can't be beat. We can meet as a group at anytime and anyplace, regardless of where we stay. I imagine NJ will put together a great itinerary for us that'll have us together for most of the day on Saturday. If the majority of folks are staying at the Venetian, then we can all plan to join them in the evening for some partying and money losing activities there.

Lookin' forward to seeing that Capri Blue 450 of yours!

I concur. Let everyone pick their own place to stay (I'm partial to Luxor). We can get together for partying wherever majority wants to. I hope Steve won't be too bummed since he really wanted all of us to stay at Venetian. Now, maybe, Stumble has some pull with Ceasar's and get us all comped

BTW, I will be the Designated Driver so rest of y'all can have some fun.

Jen/Mel - how about leaving LA in a "convoy" on Fri. night?

The web site says that rate isn't available for that weekend, but I tried several different dates & it kept saying "not available" so I'll call them tomorrow as it looks just beautiful!

It'll have a fresh coat of paint (and wax!) on the hood and a brand spankin' new rear bumper.

Nah, not bummed, I am still thinking of calling them and seeing if they'll honor a rate they're talking about in an email to me of $199/night ($159/night weeknights) for August and September if I can convince a couple of you guys to go with. Just to see.

Tripadvisor's got some good hotels (the users rate them) both on and off the strip, for those who might not be familiar with the area or the hotels.

Also I need to know who'll be joining me on the drive up/back? The wife's got a meeting on Sunday so she's flying home Saturday night, and not that I can't but I'd prefer not to make that dull drive without another GL in the window(s).

Unfortunately, my only pull comes from credit lines folks are willing to set-up and put on the line in the casino.

I can understand that. I will see NJ's limit of $60 and will double down for my limit. What will that get us? Room and dinner? Or just room?

For that kind of limit, I believe you will get a room with a toilet, but no view. They call it a public bathroom stall.

LOL

But it does have a lock on the door and a fan above...and the towels are free.
