Delivery

Car will arrive Denver tonight and be at dealership tomorrow. I will be on the road early tomorrow morning for Denver with delivery sometime on Friday.

I have not heard from Stumbefoot yet on his car but I am sure it will be in the same situation for a Friday deiivery.

The GL actually handles better than the S, in my opinion, at least in terms of steering feel.

Rep just called and confirmed the same info for me. Fingers are crossed once again that information is accurate.

If I can talk Jack into driving his S all the way here tomorrow without any stops, we might be able to take delivery Thursday night, instead of Friday.

Thanks all...

Won't be easy jp...that S glides and once over 80, it has a life of it's own. A truly fantastic car to drive.

Stumble the Spy laying in wait at the rail yard

Someone better raise the red flag at Westminster MB since I am not sure they can handle Stumble and Jack taking delivery together....................

Just kidding, guys. Hang in there. I am sure you will have your beasts in less than 24 hours.

Fantastic news! Brian, I can't believe you went down to the rail yard...too funny! Can hardly wait to see those beauties in person.

Drive safe you guys...no racing each other off the line coming out of the dealership.

NJ:
As you drive all that way to Denver in the S, aren't you worried about the second (and third) thoughts you're going to have...no back massagers in that 550. I don't know how you're gonna do it, even though that bad boy is awesome.
Again, hop a plane and KEEP THEM BOTH...

NO 550's there.. The 21 inch wheels, lo-pro tires and huge grill emblem not seen on these trucks... You'll guys will see these are biggest distinguishing factors in Gl550's exterior appearance

I have a GL and was considering upgrading my E500 to an S550. I thought the S's handling with ABC would be at least on par with my E, which was a step below my recent BMW's but noticeably better than the GL which although decent for an SUV still suffers from handling issues stemming from a high center of gravity and weight. Could you detail your experience?

The main thing is that I found the steering in the GL to be a bit firmer, closer to my BMW, and therefore subjectively a bit more nimble than the S550's I test drove. The S class felt a bit heavy to me. On the other hand, the S was by far the most comfortable car I have driven. All of this is based on a few short test drives, not on extensive real-world experience, so take it for what it's worth. Obviously as a GL450 owner, you know that vehicle far better than I do. I will say that when I drove the GL550, I found the adaptive damping to firm up the ride nicely, without much of a penalty in ride harshness. Do you have the ADS in your GL?

Arrived safely

Arrived Denver at about 2:00. Averaged 25 mpg at an average speed of 72 mph! No cops today...

Delivery is set for both Stumblefoot and I at 10 AM tomorrow. Brian caleed and said he saw them both being PDI. I intend to go over this afternoon and take a few shots in the detail area.

Pics tomorrow when I get home...late tomorrow night. Brian may have some to post before me.

Almost there NJ! Enjoy the evening previewing the 550 and have a couple hot totties before bed so you can sleep like a baby.

When more than 12 hours elapsed without a post from NJ, I knew that he was on way to Denver

Great to hear the awesome news, Jack and Brian. Sleep tonight will not be too difficult, I hope

Hi folks and sorry for the delays in posting today... work was rather crazy today. You've seen the notes from Jack and I look forward to hooking up with him tomorrow morning around 10a.

I know there is absolutely no way to compete with his photography skills or camera, but I'll take my little P&S and get some shots out to everyone tomorrow afternoon. Then the real show will begin when Jack gets everything uploaded on his return to Vegas.

Take Care.

My GL450 does not have ADSII - long story I bought off lot - from what I had read I thought it was standard. Lack of ADSII is my biggest disappointment with the GL. Fortunately its primarily my wife's truck and she could care less.
