I looked at the thread you mentioned and I see what you mean. I think it may just be the way the light hits the mesh. Also, I noticed the Schatz instructions are shown and it reads at the top, ML W164 in addition to another vehicle (SL I think). Perhaps the pictures he includes are actually of one of those vehicles for illustrative purposes. Could be one of those vehicles has a chrome mesh although it's hard to imagine a chrome mesh with black fins (interesting look). Who knows. I guess we'll have to hear back from Stevethepilot to be set straight.

You're not the only one taken by that lighting. Look at dsunnym's comment on the exact same thing of mesh being chrome.

Price change

formymercedes changed the prices for fins. They are now listed 99.00 not 40.00 anymore !

Yea, I bought a set of the $39.00 fins from them, and like NJ, returned them as they were not a real good fit. This vendor thought the ML fins would work.
I am getting the $99.00 ones, which they get from Schatz (or Schaetz), I believe out of Germany, that are made for the GL. You can also get them for the same price at performanceproducts.com.

Actually, I'm sorry if you got the impression that the mesh was chrome - it's tough with a camera flash to not make those things shine. Just the fins are chrome and I do like that. I personally feel it looks particularly slick on a darker color like mine is.

But again, sorry if I misled you, it's just the camera flash that makes them look like they could be chromed.
