California Fires
To all of our fellow friends in Southern California...
In this time of rampaging wild fires, I know that members of this forum pray that you and your families are safe. That your homes are protected. That the Santa Ana winds that are flaming the fires die down as soon as possible.
Best Wishes,
Stumblefoot

Thanks Nish for checking in on me! We're OK so far. The area we live in usually gets at least one fire per year. We had one in September when we were away in Montana, so hopefully that will be it for us.
Folks in San Diego aren't as lucky. The in-laws of a friend of mine lost their house in San Diego yesterday. It is a horrible situation down there.
I've had several friends who have had to evacuate, some with large animals such as horses. One chain of pet hospitals (VCA) has opened up their services for free boarding of pets to people who have to evacuate, which I think is a wonderful service to provide.
The area we got married in (near Lake Arrowhead) is under mandatory evacuation. I hope the place survives as we go there every year for our anniversary. So many wonderful memories for not only us, but everybody who visits there.
The sickest part is many of these fires were started by arson. I just do not understand what is wrong with people.

Well, I spoke too soon! Now there is a fire in my town, although it's on the other side of the freeway from where I live. My husband is home today, so he's keeping an eye on things. He said they had the Super Scoopers up in the air doing water drops and the smoke was now white which is a good sign.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those who have lost homes. We lost our home to Katrina and know all too well the feeling of rounding the bend and seeing that your home is gone.
God bless....

Best wishes to you and your family Jen. I'm in Irvine working and it was an eerie sight to see the orange glow over in the hills from Highway 57 after I left Honda Center Tuesday night. Take care!
