Ideas on Black wheels ?

I saw this "AMG" ...I don't like the style of the wheel, but I think I like the matte black finish. Kinda stealth.

Anyone know of wheels that are available in a finish like this?

Nish looks like crossdrilled rotors, but my eyes are old.

its supposed to be spy photos of the GL AMG.. look close.

I like the black wheels, i could buy factory AMG 21's and have them powdercoated I guess. How trick would that be? any chop experts looking for something to do? lol

That is no "spy photo" of the GL AMG of which there is none. If that was a MB test vehicle it would have some kind of MB rims (black perhaps but not Lorinser) and all the goodies would be covered showing little or no chrome.

It looks like a Premier Edition or perhaps a GL500 EU model with a few mods, like the exhaust. However, there is no chrome rear bumper sill guard so it just may be a GL450. Remember in EU ALL options are on the table when ordering.

Wow, those are nice. They look a lot like the SLR wheels...but I don't think they are.

I'm not a fan of the black wheels...to me, they just look like they're covered in MB brake dust!

and there's something different about the front scoop under the license plate. can't quite make it out. and those are cross-drilled rotors for sure, but don't look any larger than on mine. Can't see the front.

I think the skid plate has been removed or there never was one and the light areas are reflections from the license plate.

What a great reply...this is a valuable forum for sure when a poster can remedy a MB problem that has persisted for 50 years...kudos!

This looks like a PE GL. Did they have those in Europe? Look at the steering wheel in the second picture. Looks like the bright birds-eye maple wood on the PE models.

Those are Lorinser wheels however. Those look like cross drilled brakes too. Maybe Brembo?

Could be but they can order anything in EU so he may just have selected that combo?

those rear rotors are larger dia than on mine... there's something with that truck.. I would assume those are at least 19" wheels.

It could just be a coincidence that this is a modded GL.

For sure it's not a GL AMG. This picture is at last a year and a half old and at around that time Rob Allan confirmed there were NO plans for a GL AMG.

Indeed I agree. The GL 550 takes the place of the AMG, and I don't think MB would put black SLR-esque wheels on it.

However, I'm not opposed to a GL AMG.

and to stir it up even more, i think thats an intercooler behind that plate...

either way, I think I'm gonna get a set of rims (not those) and powdercoat them a flat/dull black. I don't think anyone sells a set thats flat. I've found gloss, but not flat. I'll have to do it myself I guess.

Take a look at Vellano or Maya(Dazz) or Forgiato wheels. You can get a flat black center or full flat black. I work at a wheel shop and I can tell you the quality of these wheels are top notch especially Vellano. Flat black center with gloss black lip looks super cool. Just a thought.
