Upgraded your wheels? I am looking for your original wheelset!

I drive a Sprinter van, and I am looking to upgrade my wheels from the stock steel utilitarian wheels to something with a little more style. I'll be honest, I don't have much money to spend, that's why I am coming here. I'm looking for your good condition OEM wheels and tires - 0-30,000 miles - at a reasonable price. Everyone tells me I need new wheels, and I would love to get some, but I just spent $700 on a stereo system (you'd be amazed at how far I stretched $700) and would love to get wheels before the summer season. I drive my van to a lot of tournaments and the wheels would add that bit of style to make me smile. Going through a divorce, so I am low on cash, but the little things can make a big difference, and my Sprinter (yes it's 100% Mercedes) is a bright spot in my life. Sounds silly, but hey, little bits of joy matter.

Any help would be appreciated. Instead of letting them sit in the garage, they could be on the road for 30,000 miles a year.

PM or email me if you have any ideas.

SM;

Just FYI, if I didn't get the GL I was seriously looking at getting a Sprinter, the newer model (the dealership I visited had the newer one for slightly less than the older one, both on the lot at the same time!) so I'm a Sprinter fan. Not that I am suggesting you do what they do, but Midwewst Automotive Designs (www.midwestautomotivedesigns.com) has done some really cool stuff with the Sprinter to make it into limos, personal use custom vans, etc. One thing I am not seeing on their site is wheels.

Have you tried eBay for some wheels? What are the sizes a Sprinter can take? I think that'd be my #1 suggestion, is to check there and see if someone has something that will fit and is flashy.

Good luck to you!

For me, the OEM GL wheels are plenty stylish. I use it for work some, so it can get loaded down, but it's a 140" Passenger High top, with the roof A/C unit, so it's totally a road trip vehicle. I got it for the gas mileage, but am infuriated that diesel is now $4 a gallon.

I don't think I could ever get aftermarket rims for it. I am pretty rough on vehicles, and it gets borrowed a bit, so I would rather have something that has a good stock of replacements at decent prices. Oh yeah, I live in a townhouse and I have to basically park it in a lot because nobody makes a garage big enough for it!

It's an awesome vehicle though. The new ones are even nicer.

The factory wheel spec is basically 5x130, with at least a 60mm offset. The same as the GL wheels, I believe. In fact, they are about the only larger alloys available that are rated to the load capacity of the Sprinter.

not sure where you are, I've got my OEM 18's with Contis sitting in my garage wrapped in plastic bags. I took them off at 8,000 miles.

The Mercedes GL uses 5X112 and the offset is closer to 50mm. I think you will need to revise your search.

OK, I am a dumbass. I guess I need G class, wheels. Much harder to come by, I am told.

Sorry for the wasted bandwidth!

That's interesting, for sure! They look so tiny up against that huge vehicle.

Best 'o luck finding some! I have seen some on eBay, I think that is your best bet.
