weathertech over the hump 2nd row mats finally available

I just checked and weathertech finally replaced the lousy two piece 2nd row floor liners with an over the hump version!

That sucks. I've had mine less than one year.
They should have make it right from day one.

i agree with you occarfan, those separate 2 floormats are worthless in the back as they keep moving around and the edges are all folded.

I received mine a couple of weeks ago and am very pleased with it. I too wish that MacNeil (Weathertech's manufacturer) had made these right from the start as they did for the third row. What they originally did makes no sense. A few of us, including myself, contacted the manufacturer about this, so maybe a little consumer pressure worked for a change.

Agreed. I love the front, 3rd row and cargo liners but the 2nd row were really poorly designed. I was planning on buying liners for my civic but plan to call in the order to explain that I have to buy a 2nd row liner for the gl450 a 2nd time. I'll report back with what they say.

I see you went with black. Any idea how well the tan matches mac?

I have the tan in the rear cargo area and will take pics tomorrow so you can see the difference. It's not close to a perfect match, but it looks very nice.

We went with black for the floor mats, because we track so much dirt/mud/snow into the truck that the black actually hides the grime better.

The tan doesn't match the Mac on the seats, rather it is about the color of the leather on the dashboard.

As stumblefoot did, I would have opted for the black ones instead as the tan ones get pretty nasty throughout the winter.

Next door neighbor kid.

It's great having a high school sophomore looking to earn a little extra money. 10 hours a week @ $9/hr goes a long way to getting things done around the house as you can imagine.

Weathertech explained to me that MB directed them to make the 2 piece 2nd row set and advised me to go back to where I got mine (the dealer) to see what they can do. I'm ordering the new 1 piece 2nd row seat and will pass on a set of weathertech liners for my civic until my kids beat up on it more.

I heard that dealers were not (yet) carrying the new one piece, over the hump liner for the second row. I bought mine online from AutoAnything.com.
They can also be ordered from MacNeil.com who is actually the manufacturer for Weathertech.

I got my Weathertech liners in today. I'll be honest. I'm very disappointed in the quality. I expected much more for the money. The material is very thin, cheap, and flimsy. Not to mention, the front mats do not have the "buttons" to secure them to the floor. I'm thinking of sending them back.

V8 - I think you are confusing an all weather mat with a all weather liner. A mat is much thicker and comes with fastening buttons. A liner, OTOH, is supposed to go over your mats and is not as thick as a mat. However, a liner covers a lot more area then a mat does.

2nd row has been working out for us and I think will be fine when the crummy weather arrives again. I kept our MB OEM mats for the driver/passenger as they have the buttons you mention to stay secured to the floor.

I agree that the cargo liner is pretty flimsy, but it has done a great job protecting the carpet for us and our cargo area gets a work out weekly.

I've had my liners for the better part of a year, including the original 2 pc. second row liners, that I replaced with the new one pc. They are somewhat flimsy, but they really do a great job. My front liners (they are not mats) do have on the corners, a raised area that fits over the "pins" in the floor to help hold them in place. That said, they really aren't going anywhere due to the outer ridge hugging all sides of the floor, which keeps them in place. Like it or not, much of the expense for these liners is for the research and design (like anything else) that went into manufacturing these liners.

They are actually pretty sophisticated - the thickness is a function of technology - when you unroll them, and leave them flat, they self-adjust to the exact MB shape because they use memory plastic. I just replaced the 2-piece with the over-the hump, and am very pleased. We also have the Weather-Tech cargo area covers and find them indispensable - I carry a lot of heavy and dirty stuff back there, but so far don't have a mark.
