Looking at a GL320CDI
Noob looking at a GL320 -- 2 questions
What kind of real world pricing are you seeing for 2008's? How much off MSRP?
Also, how is real world mileage turning out? I've sene indications that the 320 can pull as much as 26mpg in mostly highway driving. How low does the mileage get?

Dude, I got an average of 28.82 miles to the imperial gallon pulling a trailer through the mountains on a new engine... That's like I guess 24+ US?
26 is certainly do-able.

My first GL 320 (2007) got 27 highway consistently, 22 around town. Driving the same way my 2008 GL 320 gets 25 highway, 20 around town. The '08 has a few added options such as distronic, but no substantial weight difference. The big change is that I had the regular wheels on the '07, but the 19" wheel package on the '08. It is only a couple MPG, and is within the range I expected, but it is curious. I am wondering if the whole 2 mpg difference is due to heavier rolling stock?

I just got back from a three-week run to eastern Canada with the family. I reset one trip meter at the last fuel stop in Rivière du Loup, Québec. We stopped for two days in Québec City to do some visiting, so that involved some mixed city driving, traffic, etc. (hence the low average speed). Upon my arrival back in Ottawa, this is how the dials looked. No fuel had been added, nothing had been reset since the last fuel stop.
For those of you who don't speak metric:
717 km = 445 miles
543 km = 337 miles

1260 km = 782 miles
I filled twice at over 1000 km before the fuel low light came on.

I wish I could say I was getting as much, as I was hoping to get near the 23/27 that one of the major car magazines got with theirs with 19" wheels. I am getting 18-19 city or mixed, and 23 on the highway. I have 4800 miles on mine, so I hope it will get better as it gets broken in.
