Is it a consumers' market w/the 2009 GLs ?
My question is whether or not we as the consumers have the upper hand in the negotiation process with the new 2009 GLs since the SUV market is taking such a beating due to their gas guzzling.
Our X5 lease is up on 10/31/08 and we are planning on leasing a 2009 GL 450.
So...I just want to get your opinions...can we get below sticker price for a 2009 GL 450 ???

With the V8s I'd sure think so. The diesels are being highly hyped and floated as different than the '07s and '08s so dealers might resist.
The thing with '09s is that the dealers already know the problem so aren't so likely to stock up on them anyway. Not so sure Mercedes will just continue to crank them out and then discount them, rather I think they'll just cut back and divert resources elsewhere.

So far, I have been quoted 79,500 for a MSRP of 83,350 for a GL550. I think until the lots of the 2008's are cleared up they won't start to discount the 09's.
I am hoping by Oct-Nov they will start the sale so we can grab an 09!

Depending upon production #'s and if they scaled back, 09 incentives may not happen until into 2009. My dealer only has 2 production spots open to spec a 550 between now and the end of the year.

I agree with what is being said so far. MB is cutting back production so real discounts won't appear till Dec or so and deals will start happening in Feb/Mar of 2009.
Since you are in NC, CLSGuy, it might be a bit hard to find deals locally. However, you may find deals if you broaden your search to NY or FL.

The deals will be based upon dealer inventory. You won't find more of these things than in the NY metro area, b/c we feel the need for 4WD or AWD, more so than anywhere.

The best deal I got offered on a 09- GL320 is 4.5 % disc off msrp.
There seems to be less production and some dealers are independant and wont discount much.
MB Canada is offering 3000$ off disc for cash on 09 models.
