SRS 'sensor' malfunction

The SRS malfunction - service required light came on last week. Had a sensor module replaced today that apparently resides in the B pillar, but did not fix the issue. Another sensor ordered overnight and supposed to be replaced tomorrow.

Anyone had an issue with the SRS problem above in a brand new, (3 months/3000 miles), '08 320 CDI?

If so what did it take to resolve the problem?

I tried a search but found only one post about this in the GL specific forum from about 2 years ago. The OP never mentioned how things were resolved.

Had my ESP, ABS and SRS malfunction on me after going over a minor bump on the road. MY wipers even went off on its own. My truck was with the dealer for 2 weeks and they figured that the fault was on a single bent, partially cut wire that was originating from the console computer. They had initially replaced the center console and deemed it to be the culprit. However, the malfunction was duplicated within the parking lot of the dealer. They meticulously, as they described it, checked all of the 12 wires from the center console and found the wire. Why it was partially cut is still a mystery. The truck runs like new again.

Well the sensor in the B pillar did not fix the problem. Now waiting on another sensor module that currently is not available. Parts/Service waiting to hear from MB re: options.

Not good.

Second sensor came in yesterday. From where even the SA doesn't know! lol.

Anyway it appears all is well and no more SRS malfunction noted.

Parts replaced were the two sensor modules; the driver's side (seat) airbag, and a battery cable.
