i got my new 09 gl450 3 weeks ago and the parktronic aid doesn't function the way it should.
it turns off by itself, and when the button is pressed to turn it back on two red lights turns on on the parktronic console and a tone sounds. it gives no indication of being close to an object when trying to park. the sensors are very clean.
any suggestions? does anyone experience the same?

GL450 P1 and Appearance.

 

Could be a bad sensor. Another member here posted some issues he experienced recently with Parktronic. Get it looked at by the dealer. Congrats on the new ride. Enjoy.

 

Definitely sounds like a malfunction. I had 1 sensor in the rear bumper become detached and had similar symptoms as you. Take it to the dealer & have then fix it.

Hi - any update? I think my parktronic is starting to fail - front four red lights go one but no object in front. Wondering how your issue was resolved.

 

Anyone have an update on the fix for this? My wife's GL has the exact same issue.

 

Apparently there are issues with the front sensors My first replacement of sensors were under warranty. Currently not under warranty and my front are not functioning again. Same symptoms

 

Today when driving (it was cold and snowy; around 25F) the system stated beeping whenever I stopped the car! No one was in front. The problem went away when I wiped the front sensors clean. Anyone ever experienced this?
This is a 2011 GL 450.

 

the parktronic module needs to be read and reset/ recoded via das. this usually takes care of the problem as those rarely go truly bad.
