2009 GL 450 current pricing?

Would be VERY interested to know what people are getting on the 2009 450 GL these days. From what I understand, it seems that the invoice price is between 4 and 5K less than sticker (depending on options). I was quoted an initial offer for a new built-to-order that was about 3500 off sticker (I assume that is about 1000 to 1500 over invoice). The current lease rates seem OK but not terrific. Any advice on where things should settle for a GL 450 P2 w/RSE leather w/ running boards... how much off sticker?

I was able to negotiate $6525 off MSRP ($56425) on a 09 ML320 last weekend. Dealer had plenty of GL's in stock as well.

Why are you negotiating prices before the (ordered) car has arrived? My understanding is that dealer ought not to write up contract until the (ordered) vehicle is delivered from factory. At any rate, your ordered vehicle won't be delivered until May/June, and who knows what factory or lease incentives are available then. Just order the vehicle now (refundable deposit of about $500) and negotiate then. Remember, you don't need to actually buy from the dealer you order from.

I see. That makes sense. Did not really get into negotiations... Just was given numbers as an estimate. If the dealer I placed the order with does not give the best price in May when it arrives, I can still get the same ordered car from another dealer? I assume I lose 500? Sorry to be so naive...

I got an 09 GL450 on December 12th and recieved $8000 off MSRP. This was a replacement vehicle through MB so I am pretty sure that is why I got such a great deal

Nice. I've been led to believe from a different dealership that MB is more willing to negotiate for the 320 than 450 "because the GL450 is so popular"... any thoughts?

My two cents is that's just the sales guy talking. All dealers in my area have their new inventory online. Makes it very easy to see exactly how many of each car they have in stock.

I did find the prices I received varied widely. My other local dealer (the one I didn't buy from) had the exact same car but a demo with 2200 miles on it and wanted $4K more than what I paid for a new one.

I know that negotiations are part of the game, but just so you guys know there are no incentives right now on the GL450 or GL320. That being said, if you are getting something below invoice or even invoice for that matter, then you are in fact getting a good deal.

I agree but so far I am not getting invoice. Since my car will likely not arrive until May I suspect the market may have changed some by then.

Arrow 2009 GL450 - Pricing

Hello,

Absolute Beginner here. Crossed over to the MB Camp from 12 years of Audi, Range Rover(s) and most recently BMW.

I placed an order for a 2009 GL450 with my dealer in Nor Cal for 11% off MSRP plus applicable incentives.

Reason for my post is that it's a bit difficult to find information on deals unlike BMW. This is the best forum that I found so I want to make a positive contribution to the pricing information pool.

PM me for more details. Will be happy to share !

Cheers

Thumbs up GL450

Thanks ! Glad to be finally joining the MB family !

I am told the delivery date to the dealer is 04/15. It dovetails perfectly into the lease end for my current car.

eurobay, 11% off msrp plus applicable incentives is a fantastic deal. i wonder what incentives would be available in april.... almost makes me question my GL320 purchase last week (9.3% off invoice, but great lease deal @ 0.67% interest).

Thanks for posting your deal... congratulations!!! It would be very helpful for the novices (including me, done it once before) to hear a few details of the back and forth... were the negotiations done in person, on phone, on email... how many rounds... was this far from the starting offer??? Thanks for any info!!!

Does anyone know historically or currently if different parts of the country gets different deals? As someone in NY, would be helpful to know if the northeast sees these kind of prices...

John, that is a super duper deal as well. My dealer told me the MF for the 36 mo lease on the GL320 CDI was 0.001, and that's why I didn't pursue that option. I can get the same discount on the diesel.

Does Mercedes offer different deals depending on the region ? I know BMW does that very occasionally.

Gladly. Well quite frankly, this is a high ticket item so it appears that demand is not very high as it once was - even in the Bay Area. The other cars we were considering were the BMW X5 and Range Rover. I used the cars.com website to request multiple price quotes from 5 dealerships in the SF Bay Area. Most of them responded quickly and called me within hours to discuss colours, options, etc. Almost all negotiaton was conducted over the phone and E-mail. The dealer that I am ended up going with - everything was done via E-mail and phone. He was the only one with the upfront offer I have. Everyone else started off at 5% off MSRP to begin with.

The 0.001 MF is the standard Jan. MB lease rate for GL's. My 0.00028 MF rate is a special program that MB may not offer again in Feb (or March, etc). No one knows... Since your vehicle is due April, your dealer cannot quote you the lease terms until April (Jan programs were not released to dealers until Jan 6!). The local NY dealers absolutely would not entertain 11% off... I considered holding off my purchase until factory incentives are offered, but who knows what month that would begin... At any rate, a 0.67% lease works out better for me. I don't know if MB offers regional specific deals (I would presume, if only to keep up with the competition). Your 11% plus incentives deal is fantastic, and you should be very satisfied. Only Dieter Zetsche can get the trifecta: true dealer invoice, factory incentive, 0% interest

If I had known about the promotional MF of 0.00028, I might have pulled the trigger on the diesel. My wife didn't quite like the feel of the diesel, after driving both the petrol and diesel back to back.

And yes I know MF's (and residuals) change every month. My question was about this month's numbers.

Yup. On that thread I requested Tarry to provide the rate for GL320 - not part of the original post ...

Exclamation Update

I spoke to my Client Advisor about the rate that you were offered. He says that promo MF of 0.00028 is not being offered here in the Western Region. He says the US is basically divided into four regions, from an MB Financial perspective and they have various promotions based on market conditions, et al.

Is anyone aware of the Feb incentives for the GL? With the sales figures posted above, one would think that the incentives would be generous.
