Sorry for another tire question
Our dealer quoted me $1275 which seems really high considering I see them online for about $255/tire and the Michelin's are $300/tire at Costco.
Does anyone know if the dealer will negotiate their price on tires?
Also, will having the work done not at MB void the tire warranty?
Thanks for any info
But never count on the dealer to negotiate on them! Based on how much dealers charge for tires, I'm surprised they get enough business to even continue offering to replace them.
As for the tire warranty - aren't you voiding it by replacing the tires in the first place? Shouldn't the warranty replace them? Or at least have a procedure for doing so? Since the warranty's sold by a third party through your dealership and not actually by the dealership, I'd say you probably won't void any warranty having work done elsewhere.

BTW, you can purchase road hazard warranties from whomever you purchase your tyres from. As for getting them mounted and balanced, just look for a local tyre store that has a Hunter Road Force balancer, and ask for the full 'road force mounting and balancing' when you have the tyres switched out. Remember also that MB does not warranty tyres; only the maker of the tyres does that.

These appear to be a really terrific tire. Now oddly, if you go by some of the consumer reporting magazines, they put the Pirelli Scorpion ATRs at the top of the All Terrain list, and the General Grabber HTS at the top of the All Weather list (both available in 265/60R18). The Nittos rated noticeably lower in the All Weather list (15th, below Coopers, Goodyears, Pirellis, and even just below the Toyo tires which are made, I believe, of rice paper), but I'm pretty impressed with its design and engineering. Well, that and Danno likes 'em, so they have to be good!
After the 75 $ rebate on line, it ran about 275 $ tire installed, with full road warranty, nitrogen fill, and free rotations and air checks as often as you like.
They were professional and did a great job.

It doesn't appear they make a Dura Grapler for the 19" wheels.

Tirerack.com has them for $174 each.

Do you really want the cheapest option or the best quality of work on your $60k plus (Not sure which G-class you have) SUV?
Mounting and balancing ONLY with purchase of wheels AND tires. Otherwise you are NOT getting them mounted and balanced by TireRack.

I'm not sure about the road hazard.

I was constantly getting nails stuck in the tires that would cause a slow leak. Since I installed the Dunlops, I have yet to get any nails that penetrated the tires.
