Hi I just ordered a 2010 GL350 in Canada (which comes with Chrome Roof Rails) and the saleman told me that the Deluxe Cross Bars are not actually Chrome but brushed metal and that they do not match the Chrome Roof Rails. I've looked the brochures and check pevious posts and it all looks like he's wrong, and that the Deluxe Cross Bars are Chrome and match the roof rails.

Does anyone have the Chrome Cross Bars and can they confirm whether or not they are chrome? Thanks,

 

I have them in my GL 420 CDI in Portugal and they are Chrome, factory installed.

I just bought my cross-bars. The end covers are chrome. The bars look like polished aluminum. It gives it a nice contrast.

 

Nice to know. Am trying to decide whether to get them or the Thule kit - the cross bars are v. expensive - can you post a photo?

 

IMO, the chrome cross-bars give the GL a nice more aggressive stance with the removable top notched rubber strip. I will post pics this coming week-end. Again, IMO, the MB large cargo box looks very, very nice on my black GL.

Yes the cross bars "whistle" at roughly any speed over 40 mph. I took mine off for that reason. It is especially noticeable because the GL is so quiet inside.

 

No wind noise issues for me at 80 mph.

There are conflicting answers to your question and after you install them on your GL you can be the judge. Mine whistle no matter what I did. Trust me I am far to lazy to take something off if it was fine.......
