14K Miles and Tires worn out on 2009 GL450

what do you set your tire pressure to?
what kinds of roads do you travel on?
what does your commute look like? lots of city driving with a lot of turning? or more freeway with minimal turing?
have you rotated your tires every 5,000 - 7,500 miles?

Yep had to replace my factory Run on Flat tires around 14k miles...totally sucked. I do live in the mountains though and tend to chew through them faster than the average driver.

The previous owner replaced his (on now my rig) at 18K-- I have 25K on it now. We've got Michelin diamaris on their now and they work great but there isn't a lot of tread depth... seems like a summer performance tire. this has concerned me a bit also... the scorpions on our old (now wrecked/gone) MKX had 30K and didn't look warn at all.

Dealer replaced 3 of 4 of mine at sub-700 miles under warranty for free. There were running unusually hard (even for RFTs).

Hmm... you definitely shouldn't have been experiencing that. I have 10,000 on my runflats and I couldn't be happier. I've even had the opportunity to try them out at some rather "high" speeds and they were as smooth and vibration free as can be. I hope they get that fixed for you.

With 30" of snow over the weekend, I was interested to see how the RFT's on my 2010 350 did compared to the Michelins on my Denali (replaced about every 40K miles). I have to say, I was impressed. I ventured out last night before the plows had hit our neighborhood and, although it was using every traction control and stability system in the arsenal, the 350 hauled just fine through some very deep snow.

Have 19,000 on my original Michelins. They look like they are good for at least 20,000 more.
