Fender Flares Added to 2009 GL 320 BlueTec
After obtaining the part numbers from a MBWorld thread , I ordered OEM GL 550 fender flares from the MB dealership, which required a 6 week wait for manufacturing and shipping from Germany; there were none available stateside. I had the parts painted and installed locally by a MB-certified body shop. I also had a rear spoiler I purchased off eBay installed.... Yes, those are 2010 LED DRLs... already mentioned and pictured in prior threads.
Although the projects are a little costly and time consuming, I am pleased with the results; it gives my "green" GL a more aggressive look with the advantage of decent fuel mileage.
Here are a few pictures:

Fender flares were about eight hundred $$ US, plus another eight for paint and install.
I posted the LED DRL part numbers on my "Swap" thread with install instructions.

The salvaged 2010 LED tail lights arrived today; I will actually start working on this project next week when I have little extra time to devote to this upgrade. I'll try to make it down to the local dealership to see if the STAR program can actually make this a plug and play upgrade after a few keypad strokes and system LED updates... and some $$$.
.... I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!!!... and keep you posted.

Given that 100% of GLs are final assembled in Alabama, this seems strange.

Bodies are made in USA.
Just engine/transmission come from Germany. Maybe the instru cluster, too, although VDO could have NAFTA production capability.

Looks very nice! What size are those rims and tyres and where did you get them? They look just like the ones on the C63 AMG.

Hey Hubert,
Did you ever get around to pitting the flares on? I'll be receiving my GL350 in Dec. and would like to do the same.

After thinking about it, I don't think I'll be installing flares on my GL. The whole deal would cost about $3K. I'll just have to find a set of 22x10s that'll fit under fender.
