Service C - dealer is quoting me $715

That's just craziness. Does include changing brake fluid and includes cabin filter changes, but is this normal? Or is this just me? I called another dealer who wanted $767. I thought they misplaced the decimal point!!!

Advice?

1. Don't do it.
2. Go to independent shop and do it cheaper.
3. Go to MB shop and do it for $7**.
4. Next time get another SUV, which service is cheaper.

Hope it helps. LOL...

I have no problems paying whatever the prevailing cost is.

Service C may include transmission fluid/filter change, which is normally $450 on its own. You CANNOT do this DIY.

No, it doesn't include it. And I'm not looking to do anything DIY.

The quote they gave me of $715 includes:
  1. oil and filter change
  2. combination filter replacement
  3. brake fluid replacement
  4. clean water drain in air/water duct
Is this reasonable and what the going rate is for these services at an MBUSA dealership???

Well...... here in central Pa. service C cost me $510 plus state sales tax! The biggest part of that was labor at $336.00.

Our wonderful dealer quoted me $822, told him it was a rip, backed it down to $634. Oil and filter, cabin and intake filters and brake system flush.

I just got my D service done and a brake flush. That total was $422, that price you got does seem out of wack. That was on my CLS, different car, but just saying.

Brake Flush... LOL.

Get yourself one of these and do it yourself. You'll save money and you'll have the tech scratching his head wondering why in hell the brake fluid is blue.

The brake fluid name is hard to read on the can, let alone the picture. But it's ATE brake fluid. DOT4. Blue. People who change the brake fluid in their vehicles once a year, we alternate between red and blue brake fluid. Easier to see when you're getting clean fluid.

Total investment, less than 100 bucks for the bleeder and 2 quarts of brake fluid... brake fluid that incidentally, is better than anything MB will put in there.

Thanks. I'm in the process of getting a quote from a local independent that specializes in MB and BMW factory service. Stay tuned... cost likely multiples lower!!!

What is actually included in a Service C >?

Because I am about to get tomorrow by a local shop, and I want to make sure everything is done accordingly.

I got quoted $428 for everything including tax. so $400 before tax compared to $715 at the dealership. He's throwing in free tire rotation, which isn't part of Service C. This is 3 hours of labor.

It includes:
oil and filter change (Castrol full synthetic)
cabin filter change
brake fluid change
cleaning water drain in air/water duct

I just confirmed at MBUSA that service at an independent shop will not necessarily void my warranty as long as we use the recommended parts/fluids and they are certified mechanics that know what they're doing.

An independent shop will never void your warranty. But they will have to warranty their own work and the parts they get have to be warranteed by the manufacturer of those parts. If it's MB, then they warranty the parts.

This is exactly what my view was, until my local MB dealership tried to say otherwise. So I called MBUSA to verify and probably got my local dealership in trouble too...

I didn't properly attach the picture in my previous post. Anyway, here's a picture of what I'm talking about.

Oh, it's a piece of cake.

So easy, even a cave man can do it.
