If that is what the 2012 looks like, I'm very happy that I have a 2011 on order.

Doesn't matter what the 2012 will be, We love our new 2011 GL550 since we took the delivery 2 weeks ago. It rides much better than our previous 2007 GL450, like the improvement in the Comand system and of course the 2-tone interior. It maybe the last year in production cycle but Mercedes got it just about perfect.

Don't know if this is really the next generation GL or not but most of the automotive journalists are reporting that the next generation GL will be a 2013 appearing in 2012.

So that's where the Pontiac went! Gee, it's ... still ugly as sin.

Moms - these look more like concept drawings. I doubt that any production vehicle in either of these classes would be quite so aggressive.

Yeah, 2012/13. It will be out in 2012 though. I think the ML is a big improvement, the GL is ok, too. It is certainly more in line with the new Mercedes design language, and I would be willing to bet it is designed too look smaller than it really is, much like the new Porsche, to cater more to euro sensibilities vs. Escalde crowd.

I know it's just a concept car, but it looks a little small. If the production model looks anything like it, I'm just going to keep my hopes up for bimmer to build a full size SUV or..... go to the dark side.
Happy turkey day everybody! Time to go stuff my face.

@ Baytown: I have seen the white car shown on that blog before referred to as the BLK, but if you look at the renderings, they seem to actually be different cars. The originating blog these are pulled of call the gold one the GL, so I'm just going by that. It seems to be a bigger car, but you could be right, I thought the back window behind the 2nd row looked a little small for a three seater on the gold, but then the one on the current GL is tiny, too.

Either way, I'm sure it will be more aggressive and angular than the current one.

PS. Actually judging from the relative size of the front licence plates vs. the rendering of the ML (I think we can agree on that one), your call that it is the BLK is likely correct.

Easily guess it by relative size of number plate to whole car. it is either GLK or BLK IMO. but definitely not GL.

I just spoke with a friend who just returned from Italy. Said that is the BLK that is available now in the MB showroom in Milan.

I think he might be confused.

I was just in Europe, at a dealer and saw no sign of such car. It's not on the international website, or the italian one, nor do any searches turn up any press releases.

The third window does not look as large as the current GL. I guess some one decided MB needed a smaller GL?

Well it was a female friend and she may have confused it with the GLK. Who knows. Sorry for the confusion. She was in Italy though. Said it was in a MB showroom.

I'd love to see pictures of the vehicle and badge, but this just seems a little too out there for MB at this point, regardless of the country.
