Warranty Expiring-Repairs???

Guys,
My factory warranty is up in three weeks and the extended picks up next month. Before that happens, the car needs to go in. It's an 07 320CDI with 23,000 miles. No real issues so far (had both turbo hoses replaced immediately after purchase). I am noticing a creaking over the front right wheel well at driveway speeds when parking. Could this be the control arm/ball joint issue?
Also, anyone with higher miles that could alert me to things the dealership should check before the original factory warranty expires, I would appreciate!

My '09 had that same sound when pulling in the driveway and parking. The dealership ended up replacing my bushings. Hope this helps.

MomsBenz, when you say "pulling in the driveway" are you talking about driving over the transition or flat curb (not sure what you call it) when you are turning in your driveway? Basically turning across a dip in the road? I ask because my 09 makes a creaking sound as I do basically the same thing as I turn across a drain grate on my driveway. The grate and the area around it make a slightly lower area in my driveway and I always hear a creaking sound when I drive across it while turning. If you could provide any more detail I'd appreciate it.

My only experience with "extended" warranty is the Mercedes CPO warranty and I know coverage of "cosmetics" goes away in that transition. So, the trim around windows, etc.

I think also coverage of batteries goes away, too, so maybe have them (both) tested. On our E with SBC the dealer tested as part of regular service and replaced the smaller aux battery under warranty ... there had been no dashboard warnings.

Maybe also other stuff covered in DTBs (dealer tech bulletins) such as aux volume much lower than radio volume, and other similar things they've written up. Even squeaking brakes ... although at your mileage you may be ready for new ones anyway.

Exactly! My driveway it almost level with the street, but the approach has a small dip then a small rise. When I made the 90 degree turn into my driveway and went over the dip and rise my front end creaked. I took it is and they replaced both front bushings.

Thanks so much! Last time I was in for service I asked my service advisor to check it out and he said they drove it but couldn't duplicate the problem. Your information should help me get it resolved.

Luckily i do have three more years of MB extended warranty...i've had good luck in the past, and i have (as of now) no cosmetic issues. I will definitely have them check for the batteries, etc.

My iPod kit is terrible, and i have argued with them about it before. When the car arrived the volume was so low, they installed the amp from the new C ipod kit. This helped a lot. However, last year, out of the blue, it started sounding as though my iPod was being played in a tin can. My father also has the 07 with iPod kit, and my iPod sounds fine in his. Have a feeling i am in for an argument over this one.

The creaking/single-pop noise while low-speed turning is most likely your steering knuckle(s)
