Price for a used '11 GL350 Bluetec?

I'm seriously thinking about selling our 7 month old '11 GL350 and need some help. The reason.... we are considering buying a QX. Here are the specs:

Color: Arctic White exterior w/black interior/Burl Walnut trim
Options: P01 pkg, Parktronic, Trailer Hitch, Pre-wiring for rear seat entertainment, and running boards
Mileage: approx. 7,200 miles

What is a good price? I checked Autotrader and there are no used '11 GL350 for sale anywhere and only five 2010's for sale.

What's the reason for selling? Something wrong with the car?

I can't tell you the price, but I saw last Manheim report and there was only one 2010 GL350 with 38K miles. It does not say what packages that car had, but the selling price was $56,700. I think you can easily sell it for about $60K.

Oh no, don't buy the whale - QX.

While I can't answer your direct question, I can share my recent experience. Last year we purchased a '10 GL350 at a great price that included the USAA rebate, well-negotiated price and Obama's $1800 tax credit. Sticker was $70k and my price was close to $61k after all of the above.

A few weeks ago my dealer called me asking if I wanted to trade to an '11. I thought he was nuts. Long story short, we did it. He paid me $58k for my '10GL350 with 10k miles. Then I got all of the same discounts on the '11 GL that I got last year. And crazy cheap financing - 2.65% rate. My depreciation was rediculously low.

I hope that helps: summary - dealer paid me $58k for a '10 GL350 with 10k miles. I expect that you could get a few more grand. The secret sauce is the diesel. If it was a GL450, i would have suffered much more depreciation and still own my '10.

It's been in the shop once for warranty work. They replaced something in the front end. It was for a squeaking noise. No other problems at all, unlike our problem child '09 GL450.
I just like the QX and I've never been a MB guy; I bought the MBs for my wife. She really loves that star! Fortunately, my wife likes the new QX. We'll see.

Selling a 2011 model is just a waste of your money.

Loosing tax and license has to be 5000.00 in Texas alone.

For an average Joe, you are absolutely right.
Not if I get what I will be asking for it, if I were to go ahead with the sell. I already got my $1800 tax writeoff and USAA threw in $3k towards the purchase so I think I'll be okay. Fortunately, the demand is pretty high for a late model GL350. We'll see what the wife wants to do.

I'm nearinlg 5000 miles on the QX and can honestly say, hands down, this is my favorite vehicle I have ever bought. The H2 came close (loved that thing) but it wasn't nearly as nice. I smile every single time I get in my car. I get SO many compliments on it and I never did get those in the GL--I can't figure that out because I, like your wife, am in love with that big ole star. I think people see the QX online or in pictures and don't like it and when they see it in person, they go on..and on..and on..about how nice it looks in person. I felt the same.

But I do feel like I should at least say: I still suffer gas price/MPG shock everytime I have to stop and fill up. I'm getting 14 mpg on a good day. Granted, I have the 24's (but it came with 22's stock, so not sure how much of a difference that makes.) For me, it's not the $ I spend on gas, as much as I SURE enjoyed the 600 miles in between refuels.

I LOVE MINE

My neighbor has QX and everytime I look at it - I see a big ugly box Of course, it's a matter of personal taste.

I totally get that, but still somehow am blissfully unable to see the ugly. LOL! But then again, I used to drive an H2 (talk about a box! LOL!)

Funny, I say that about our GL. To me, it looks like a overgrown station wagon. I just test drove the QX today and I absolutely think it's gorgeous. The functionality and the interior of the QX puts the GL to shame. JMHO. The MPG.... I'm not impressed with.

And I beat you can get the QX fully loaded for the price of a base gl350. Wonder how the Japanese do it, plus the QX is built in Japan and the GL here in the states

I've been researching the QX and a fully loaded QX stickers at around $76k. I can probably pick one up for around $71k. I bet I can pickup a brand new GL350 with the P02 Pkg, Running Boards, and Tow Pkg. for around $61K-63 (USAA rebate included). The QX is not cheap by any means and you get a heck of alot more goodies than the GL anyday. If you have a chance, go to Edmunds.com and check out the specs of the QX. IMO, that little stinch with Daimler Chrysler put a pretty big dent on MB. Just my .02.
With MB, I really believe that you are paying for the badge (sorry MB lovers). I could care less for that badge, unless it's a Porche 911 Turbo S . The days of a true MB ownership are gone, IMO. I remember when I was growing up, owning a MB actually meant something. They had a reputation for being durable and being "bullet proof". The days of putting lipstick on a pig are here to stay.

Wow i did not have to do any research as i bought my 2011 gl350 with p2 towing rear entartaiment and sticker was 74 grand i managed to get 7k off the sticker, so the prices are around the same. I dont want or need to talk you out of that QX everybody likes different things and drive different cars but than to pay 70 grand for a nissan with a different badge and some gadets is something i would never do, at least Benz is still a benz the oldest car maker on the planet and Infiniti its just nissan with leather made for american market as a high end luxury car. So like i said if everybody liked Benzes or Bimers other car makers would not exist but people like different cars and will drive different cars. If you can get me in to a brand new GL350 with p2 towing and rear entertaiment for 61 i will buy another one for my brother.

I might have to agree with this assessment. Also, it's a gas-guzzler.

Not if you: 1. trade it and only pay tax on the difference. 2. sell it to the MB dealer and have the Infiniti dealer work it out with the MB dealer to avoid the tax. Dealers do this all of the time. License fee is $71 in my county.

To the OP, just make sure you consider this. You wouldn't want to pay sales tax again. And the dealers can work it out. I have done it many times.

I think it is rude to disparage another car that someone else owns or is thinking about buying but since this is the GL forum and there has been so much love for the QX on here, I've got to say that every time I see one (usually white) I think of the Michelin Man or a big blown up marshmallow. It has got to be one of the worst looking vehicles on the road. Did they close the windows and hook up an air compressor when they were designing that thing? Is that what those fake vents are for on the front fenders, to release the air pressure? You would have to pay me to own one.

You are aware that Car and Driver characterized the QX's styling as "weird", right? Would hate to drive down the road with people saying, gosh there goes that guy in the "weird" SUV. But hey, GM sold a few Pontiac Aztecs too. There's something for everyone I guess.

I too think that you will get pretty good money for your '11. You will just have to find a buyer. Many people will just buy a brand new one since the used ones hold their values so good.

Regarding the QX, I was also considering that before we decided on the GL. The interior is much more refine in the QX but I just can't get pass the exterior. It's a either love it or hate it style. It just so happened that I belong in the hate-it group. Good luck!

I totally understand where you guys are coming from regarding the exterior of the QX, but have you seen one up close? Have you driven it? I really don't care what these biased car magazines say about certain vehicles (I subscribed to many of them myself) nor do I care what people think. Life is too short and I graduated from peer pressure effecting me long ago. We like the way it looks. You guys are right though.... it is a love/hate thing - so is kimchee and I love it! The GL is no GQ when it comes to looks. To me, the GL is a G that underwent plastic surgery.
