VVME HID's

I just bought my pops, for father's day, a 4300k 55w HID kit from VVME as I have bought HID's from them in the past for my previous cars. I have never installed a kit on any Benz and would like some input before I go. I have searched the forums and found some great threads on 'how-to' install them. My question is, since I didn't buy the relay harnesses for the kit, will his car be pulling error codes? and did I make the correct decision on purchasing the 55w kit opposed to the 35w kit? Thanks guys. Happy Father's day (in advances) to you fathers out there too.

Use the search function. There are a few informative posts on the topic.

I searched and read up on plenty of threads including yours blownv8. I just want to make sure that no error codes will be thrown. I also went in to the stealership my pop bought the GL from and the employee that helped me was *****y, to say the least.

Use an inline resistor and you should be fine. Mine are still going strong with no issues at all.

Blownv8, did you use this 'inline resistor'? and what is it? I know that some HID kits come with resistors embedded already in the ballasts correct?

Yes, I used an inline resistor. The resistor makes the car's computer think the bulb is working correctly and has the right resistance. The HID kit draws less voltage so without a resistor of some sort the computer thinks the bulb is out.

If the kit has a resistor built in, try it without. If it still trips the bulb out warning, use a resistor.

hey guys, i am also VVME user, in fact, It depends. If your car doesn't have DRL or canbus system(35w default). The 55w kit without a relay harness is also a good choice.

hope helpful!

pteam, i think that is why most people haven't gotten the 55W ballast. I had a 55W kit and a 35W kit and so in the left light i put the 35W kit and in the right light i put in the 55W kit just to be able to see the difference... theres not much of a difference from when i was looking at it.
