Removing rear entertainment screens?!

Hi there,

I just bought a 2009 GL320 Bluetec and I am having a hard time getting the baby seats in and out?! The screens are in the way. Is it possible to take the screens off? I am sure someone at Mercedes can do it, but is there a DIY method???

thanks,
G

Yes, I have done it for a customer who has no kids... Had to make aluminum covers for the holes in the top of the seats that we painted the same color as the seats...

I know that everything is possible when it comes to customizing a car. What I would like to know is if I could remove the screens myself "really easy"...or is it something that can only be done with quit some effort?! How did you take them off? Do I have to remove the seat???

thanks,
G

Neavissa:

I have a broken screen and I wanted to replace it. It was hell finding instructions for removal, but in the end I got some PDFs from a tech.

I actually started and said, f...this. lol. Too scared to damage something.

ha ha, I hear you! I am thinking the same thing now, is it really worth it?! I have to print out the instructions and look at them while being at the car to get a better idea though! Thank you!!!

Actually the instructions don't make it look too bad. But I'm the sort of guy that takes stuff apart, it started with 20 screws. When I'm done I'm 8 screws short and I say...Ahh I didn't really need those screws. lol.

I'd rather pay someone to do it right.

I love to take stuff apart but for some reason I never put it back together?! I think the reason for that is that I subconsciously want something new and need a reason to break it, lol...
