Production and Delivery Times
According to my dealer, my GL450 went into production on September 20th, but no updates since then.
I know the Alabama factory schedules production in three 10-day day "decades" each month. Based on that, I would assume my car was built by September 30th, but just a guess on my part.
I went up since they were having an open house. I got there and found out they only had one GL450 left and it was sold. As a result it was in the service area waiting to be detailed, but they were nice enough to let me go check it out.
It didn't have the sticker on it anymore, so I couldn't tell what options it had from that, but I could figure most of it out. I like the new display in the center of the dash. It has options to show you a lot, I think that alone will take some time to get experience.
The Comand unit is a definite improvement from my 2007. I put the nav on and it quickly showed that traffic was stopped on the highway in front of the dealership. I didn't play with the mbrace apps, that will have to wait for my vehicle. I have always liked the puck for controlling the Comand unit, I'm glad we finally have that in the GL.
It of course had the manual 2nd row seats, not sure I'd say I was impressed with that. The color was the new brown with cashmere interior. That's not a color for me. I didn't drive it since it was sold.
Overall I can't wait to get my new vehicle. I think it's a big step up from my 07 and I was always happy with that.
Like clockwork, he called Thursday 10/4 to tell us the car would be in Friday afternoon. It was, and we drove it home Sat around 2:00.
They had quite a number of 2013 GL's, both 450's & 550's, on the lot.
I like the new styling of the interior, the exterior changes are virtually un -noticable to me.
This new ML for my wife replaces a ML550. The newly improved 6 cylinder gasser is pretty impressive for it's performance. Lacks the immediate response of a V8, but get the rpm's up & it really goes!
