Tire pressure message

Periodically I get the "check tire pressure" message in the instrument cluster. I've checked the tire pressure with my digital pressure gauge (not in mountains but more or less sea level) and they all register the same. I've gone through the computer to check the pressure and found that they are all the same.

Is this a sensor going bad? Something else? Battery related?

Thanks for the help.

If all the tires are above 30psi, it is more than likely that one or more of your batteries in the sensors are going bad. Luckily, you can buy new sensors from tirerack, as the idiots at MB made the oem sensors with a NON replaceable battery. Go figure?

All your tires need to be at 30 psi or over at all times.

With the colder weather, this is not always the case.

No need to replace TPMS sensors. You just need to reset the TPMS system. If I'm not mistaking, you do that from one of the menus on the center screen. Once the sensors are tripped they need reset. Check the manual

My Gl350 came with runflats, and my winter tires are not. Is there anything that has to happen to let the computer know about the different tires I'm using?

No. The car does not "know" what type of tires you have, run flats or not. If you are referring to tire pressure, if you install the TPMS sensors on each you will be fine. If not then you simply will not have any tire pressure info on the front display.

Just had that message on my 2008.
It was right after I got home from towing (tires were at 40 rear 38 front)
It was as soon as I disconnected the trailer.
I figured it was a reminder to bring the tires back to normal range.
Or maybe one sensor is going bad.
I will watch it a while and hope I don't need new sensors till I need new tires.

What I find bizzare is that we have paid dearly for this vehicle and yet the lady down the road driving her toyota highlander knows exactly what tire pressure is in each tire....we don't know anything!!!!! Not fair

Not following your frustration. Doesn't your car tell you EXACTLY what tire pressure each tire has? At all times?

No it doesn't in the message but all you have to do is go to the menu and see the tire pressures on all four corners. If one or more corners registers less then you know. Also you would check all four tires at the service station anyway wouldn't you?

Yes, I would and I guess I've never had to deal with low tire pressure, but how cool to have that info as part of the knowledge of the system info on an ongoing basis. Still, don't want to drive a toyota!!
