good luck with your riding quality.

also good luck with your airmatic and steering rack.

heavy wheels (and those 24s will be heavy) tend to blow airmatic shocks and put extra strain on the steering rack (and both the shocks and the rack are not exactly bulletproof on the gl trucks to begin with).

i hope those wheels look reaaaaaaaaly good as you will pay for the look dearly down the road.

just a data point.

You have to love the "experts" that jump in and talk about unsprung mass, weight and thier effect on stopping distance, acceleration and now suspension components when they don't realize that a good forged plus size wheel can actually weigh less than the very heavy OEM wheels/runflat tires.

no airbags on the front of the cls and no weak steering rack from the factory- whole different animal.

guess you have never had truck with 24" forged aftermarket wheels - besides looking kind of ghetto (imo), if you think that 24" forged-anything-that-can-sustain-the-weight-of-the-gl will weight less than stock 20" wheels (even with run flats)... you are mistaken.

not to mention that the lower height of the tire will put additional strain on the suspension components as there is much less "give" and the suspension (especially front) is designed to work in conjunction with certain height tire wall.

just my 2 cents

"guess you have never had truck with 24" forged aftermarket wheels"-Have you?

I agree that 24" are a bit big for my taste (I have 22" wheels on my GL) but taste has been changing every year.

You are simply wrong about weight.

just my 2c

Honestly, your forged 24's will likely weigh about the same as the stock 21's...in the 40+ lbs range. The only additional downside to the 24's is they you'll be moving more of the weight away front the center, which will create a bit more rotational inertia. But if you must run 24's, at least you're doing it the right way with lightweight wheels that shouldn't hurt things too much.

To give an idea, I have forged single piece 20" Centerlines on my work truck that weigh 26 lbs each. By comparison, the 22" version weighs 35 lbs so the additional couple inches in diameter (when already at that size wheel) adds a fair amount of weight.

Cooper, like all tire manufacturers, makes some excellent tires and some crappy tires. What model specifically are you looking at?

this is getting good

i have seen a few G Wagons on 24's and while not to my liking all are entitled to their own opinions.

IMO - 24's look better on American cars/trucks

While I can't give any input on the tires for your rims, I for one am excited to see them. Not too often do you get the MB SUVs running a nice set of concave wheels.

Well you said Forgiato and you said concave so let me venture a guess... Concavo?

Right, there's plenty of those types of wheels on these cars. I was specifically talking about concave wheels.

But I DO think that 24's would look pretty badass hahah

While I consider Forgiato to be a high end "bling bling" company and most designs aren't fitting to my tastes, I do really like the one UDWANTIT2 chose. I'm excited to see it on your GL!

Do you think, though, that 24s and the smallish stock brakes of the GL to begin with will warrant the extra expense for a BBK upgrade? IMO ML63 brakes will look killer on your car!

i already dumped mad money in the CLS and a BBK....but everything happens in stages....

i don't want to dump too much money in this project...jus wheels n TV in motion...

but u never know once you do one thing then the year after you feel like its missing something....than may be....i like BBK...hopefully later on in life right now jus wanna slap these on

and see the end result... I know MODs r addictive...so i am trying not to go crazy..

the wheels colour matched with chrome lips should look proper...i am getting them made to really really deep concave,,,

i have seen GL on 26s looked weird high n small brakes..... you r right about the brakes may be might look ok when i paint callipers....benz decals
