2012 GL450 Headphones help
Hey, the dealer recently ordered me new headphones for my 2012 gl450 rear dvd sytem and i cant switch them over from the speaker system to the headphones. I called the dealer and he said it should sync automatically or bring it in for service. I dont want to drive an hr to the dealer if i can fix it alone. Does anyone have any idea how i can connect the wireless headphones to the dvd system and listen to music at the same time???

I am new here so don't know much but I remember this tech guy from the dealership said if dvd plays from the rear dvd player (not from the front main dvd player), it will play only through the headphone. That is, you can listen to the music from the front main system and your kid(s) can watch DVD with the wireless headphones. Try this and see if it works.

Go under the "Audio" menu and select something other than "Rear" and you should hear that instead.
FYI- If your kids are like mine and break stuff you can get wireless headphones for under 20 bucks on amazon.com.

For some years and some Mercedes Rear Seat Entertainment systems - replacement MB headphones have to be coded to the RSE by Star system... with your VIN# ask your dealer parts dept or service dept.
I have found for my customers - shopping eBay for like-new/or unused MB headphones as replacements has been the best bet really... whether your yr/RSE requires headphone coding at the dealer depends on your research with your dealer..

I went ahead and purchased a pair from Amazon knowing I could send them back if they didn't work. Much to my surprise they work perfectly! We now have 4 pairs of headphones, 2 originals from MB and two cheaper ones from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BUWCTM4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_kqicCbSW81APQ

almost "all" of the IR (infrared) headphones work with almost "all" rear entertainment systems.
So you can buy them for 10-15 bucks each from Amazon. Only the build quality would be different.
