22x10.5 ET 45, 305/40 R22 tire- too aggresive?

Hello forum members, newbie here. We're looking at buying a pre-owned 2011 GL450 and immediately I've been looking for new wheels to replace the OEM 19"s as anyone would have suspected. As the title says, will this set-up be too aggressive for the GL450? I read on some thread that 22x10 ET50 with the same tire specs sits just nice. Anyone here running this set-up? Thoughts?

wouldn't the correct size be 305/35/22?

how about the offset of the wheel? sticks out around 5mm than the ideal ET50 that other members have suggested.

I'd have to dig in more on this, I would have to measure the total diameter of my current set-up including tires to get a more accurate or close enough OEM spec wheels+tires overall diameter when going for 22" rims.

I put Vossen 22 x 10.5 rims with 305/35-22 tires on my GL320. They looked nice and fit well, but the added weight of this set-up took a big hit on my MPG. Since I bought a diesel for the good MPG I decided to compromise with 20" AMG replicas which have worked out well.

I made an error. The tire size on the 22's were 305/40-22 (not 305/35). I mounted Nexen Roadian HP tires on both the 22's and 20's. These tires are really inexpensive ($142 for 22's and $130 for 20's) and so far I have no complaints.

The 22's are:

Are they replica?
where did you get them?

Any vibration with aftermarket wheels?

Any issues with the tires?

I am ready to get new tires or a newt set of tires and wheels.

I currently have the OEM 21" and the tires are very expensive.

I picked up the 20" AMG replicas from an Ebay seller out of LA and the tires from Walmart. No problems with either the tires or the wheels.

I am coming up for new tires on my 21" OEM wheels soon.

I do not want to pay $1700-$2000 for tires so I may switch to 20" replicas.

I had replicas on my X5 BMW and it was nothing but vibrations which I do not want.

The replica wheels you have, are they hub centric, any vibrations at any speed?

Who was the seller?

Thanks.

The smaller the wheel, the smoother the ride. The larger the wheel, the ride worsens.

So, what's more important? How you look from the outside? Or how you feel inside when you're driving?

IMHO, as I get older (and more mature) ride comfort is more important than appearance, especially when I'm dropping a lot of money on a car.
