Anyone Fit LED's For Sidelights 2011 Year?
Hi all
Late 2011 GL500 and Im wanting to replace the awful yellow sidelight W5W bulbs with a white LED type to try and match the Xenon white colour from the dipped beam but here in the UK all sellers on eBay etc. seem to think their LED options will trigger an error message on the dash, anyone fitted a nice white (without being over bright) LED in this fitting and have no error messages please?
My GL has LED rear lights and LED puddle lights under the mirrors so why on earth did MB fit these yellow halogen bulbs, oh I know, because the X166 was due out a year later. Looks horrible.
Thanks
Carl

Would not recommend any LEDs for forward projecting lights in housing not designed specifically to capture LED surface mounted light spread. You're better off with an HID conversion (we carry top end Morimoto kits). LEDs are ideal for indication type lighting or short throw lighting.

How do the 6000k low beam and parking lamps look?
Thats the exact set up I want is your car a facelift model, any error messages?
All suppliers of canbus error free parking LED's here in the UK said they thought their product would trigger error messages?
Do all 164 GL's have D1S, I thought mine had D2S but not sure now?

I have some T10 LED bulbs left over from when I did my interior lighting, and wanted to see if they would work in the 5w5 side markers. Stymied by access though. How do you pull out the side marker lights???? I can barely just touch them with my fingertips, but in no way spin them out of their socket. Wires are really brittle as well which made me not want to try to hard. Do you have to pull the entire light assembly to get at them??? Bummed as I would really like to update these!!!

Any updates on an easy solution to add HID's to a 2012 GL? I've read posts, and most talk abotu flickering or errors. Do you have experience with this?
Also, what about models that have the LED strip lights in the bumper but they don't do the BRIGHT daytime running light mode that models with the lighting package have. How do you get them to go bright, is there a hack or jumper?? They look like the same lights.

Any pictures yet please, keen to see how the 6000k look in real life if possible?
Any issues with the Morimoto D1S bulbs, read stories of flickering, poor focs, colour mismatch etc.
AZN Optics dont have the 6000k in the sidelight wedges at the moment so only 5000k to chose from.
