I assume this is new to you truck. Have oil changed to Mercedes approved oil. Reset code and force regen with star/ das. If error comes back in couple hundred miles your dpf is clogged and would need to be replaced. $$$$. Rain has nothing to do with it. If error comes back they sold you a truck that was run with wrong oil and plugged dpf.
Yep, got a month ago, and the dealer did a fresh oil change, but how are we supposed to know what they put in it? Only 500 miles on it since picked up.

Yes. That is the correct oil. Or used to be. It isn't it available any more as new stock. Last two years Mercedes switched to a thinner mb- specific oil. The unknown is what oil was run before that in your truck. If you have the correct oil now follow my directions in previous post sans the oil change. You might need to bring the truck in for the forced regen as it requires dealer computer (star/ das).

I use liqui moly mb 229.51 that's the certification you need to look for ... typically if you gun the vehicle or run at 3 to 3.5 rpm in manual you'll start regen because it needs higher exhaust temp

Not if regen has failed a few times. Truck will attempt several regens and if fail will just light the error and give up the minimize risk of undercarriage fire. Subsequent regens need to be initiated via star/ das.
Mobil one 5w40 esp used to be the oil for the diesels. It is now the Mobil one 5w30 esp or the mb branded equivalent which can be found online... wait for it... cheaper than the Mobil branded one.
On alternative oils- I would try to avoid them. The Mobil oil works just fine and I have yet to see a plugged dpf on a truck where I know with certainty it ran the Mobil one oil.
the new dpf and sensor are easy to recognize as they would have less road grime on them and most likely new bolts on the exhaust flange for the dpf.
what is interesting is i wonder why the truck threw the original dpf in the first place. and now seems to have problems with the new dpf too... the only common reason is consistent and prolonged use of wrong oil and excessive soot accumulation in dpf...
Thanks for the reply. Yea. A little odd. But I guess the good news is the right oil is 100% in it now. The only other thing I might be able to do is try to get the service records from the Mercedes dealer that was listed on the car fax that showed where the service was done. They also checked everything else out and said the truck looked very good and did 92 miles of driving before giving it back.
