question on airbags and towing trailer

trying to dial in my weight distribution hitch with my 08 GL320 and travel trailer

i know without the trailer the airbags lower some on the highway but come back up when i drive around town

does this still happen when the trailer is plugged in? or do they stay at the lower height all the time?

hmm the manual looks unclear about this but several times i have noticed my non ads truck lifting the front end when i come to a red light after being on the hwy

From what i understand they all have vehicle level control but ADS gives more control over when it raises and lowers

It has always been my understanding, as well, that even non-ADS trucks will lower at highway speeds. But I think it's only about 1/2" or 3/4". If you're trying to dial it in that tightly, then maybe just split the difference?

If you have the factory tow package, highway lowering is supposed to be disabled when a trailer is plugged in.

@clvincent - were you able to figure out how to dial in your weight distribution with the airmatic function on your GL?

Sold that truck a few years ago but if I remember correctly I followed another posters advice and hooked up the wd with the air bags down- maybe the car off to make them do that?

and then let the bags air up and it worked fine

it was always fine using wd for me

good luck

Lol I ended up getting a full-size Chevrolet van, 10,000 pound tow capacity and much better for my bikes....

But rides like crap and gets crappy gas mileage compared to the GL LOL

The cost of maintaining my two Mercedes was quite a bit so I just decided to go with two brand new cars
