GL350 BlueTech - NOx Sensor and Emissions Warranty

Hey guys, got a check engine light on my 2012 with 61,000 miles. I put my scanner on it (Elite Autoscanner CP9185) and got P2BAD which points to nitrogen oxide levels out of spec. I don't have Star/Das or a generic so this is the best I'm going to do without bringing it in. I previously had a NOx sensor replaced at the dealership under warranty at about 38k miles.

My question is related to the 8 year/80,000 mile emissions warranty. NOx sensor is listed as covered. I'm assuming that I can just bring this into the dealership and they should be required to fix it under warranty. Can anyone confirm this is the case? Just curious about other's experiences.

Primarily because I'm interested in hearing what others have experienced. My wife told me to call the dealer too :-)

But I'm hard headed and don't trust the dealer. I'm 99% certain that the answer is that they need to fix on their dime, but I've never tried to use the emissions warranty before.

I checked MBUSA and it says you are covered. See page 44 http://assets.mbusa.com/vcm/CAC_RAPM...ndwarranty.pdf

Called the dealer and they had an appointment today; gave me a C300 loaner and they just called and confirmed the sensor is the issue and it's covered.

I was in such a good mood over this that I'm letting them replace a leaking 'centrifuge cover' (whatever that is) for $190, just because it's about 20 degrees F in my garage and I don't want to deal with it.

So I'm hoping somebody will read this thread and say "gee I didn't know there was an 8/80 emissions warranty" and it helps them. It's actually surprising the number of typically troubling things that are covered by the emissions warranty, so it's worth reading over and familiarizing yourself with it as a GL BlueTech owner.

'11 S550/'12 ML350 Blutec
This is VERY helpful. Bludef low light would not go off after filling on wifes '12 ml350. Check engine light came on once countdown started. Dealer called yesterday and indicated 2 bad nox sensors $1800. Prior to knowing the specific problem I found other threads mentioning emissions systems warranty and that most of the bludef system was covered so I questioned service manager and he said "nox sensors are not covered". My mechanic of 25 years is MB certified so I have never taken any of my cars to the local MB dealer and was "not in their system". After seeing the "nox sensor" listed in the warranty .pdf that BlownV8 posted I can't help but think I am totally being hosed. Am I being paranoid or is this why we are all so leery of dealers and the industry in general ? (No offense to other honest techs and dealers in the field-actually gives you a competitive advantage if you are not a scammer)

A lot of the emission system is not covered. But the nox sensors absolutely are covered. You are getting hosed.

So not 200 miles after the upstream sensor was replaced under the 7/70 warranty, the check engine illuminated again. This was three months ago, but I've been busy so I parked the GL (again) and have been driving the flawless as usual BMW 328i (again) and FINALLY got an appointment at the dealer today. Downstream sensor is bad this time. Service writer tried to tell me it wasn't covered and was a $1200 repair. I asked him politely to check as I'm certain it's covered, which it is. They'll replace it today at no cost.

I got this NOX Sensor and I didn’t contact any dealer when I faced a problem in engine. I got this product https://xenons4u.co.uk/mercedes-benz...ox-sensor.html online. And this whole procedure was much cheaper than the dealer.
