DIY Paint step sides and rear valance...

Let me know what you all think. All comments are welcome.

Did about a full day of prep work with the step sides and rear bumper valance (currently black).

Due to the hard plastic being uneven and potential for orange peel. I sanded and sanded. Then used a Tec cloth to get off dust particles.

Tapped all areas for overspray.

1) Sprayed 3 coats of plastic adhesion promoter.

2) Sprayed 3 coats of primer filler and sanded when dry. They became somewhat smooth.

3) I sprayed 3 coats of primer sealer.

4) I bought 3 cans of OEM 650 Mercedes spray paint on ebay. I sprayed 4 coats of paint.

5) I sprayed 4 coats of Spraymax 3680061 2K clearcoat. *Warning* this must be sprayed in a ventilated area wearing a respirator! If you breath this in you have a strong possibility of expiring. Also, one opened you have 2 hours tops to use it.

I used all rattle spray paint cans for this project and know minimal about painting vehicles. It turned out extremely well.

Absolutely I'll take more here within the hour. Again I'm not expert at painting, I took auto collision repair in high school here in St Louis.

kombifan- I'll definitely snap some within the hour. It literally looks like a body kit to some aspect.

I haven't tackled the front bumper valance yet, but within the I will. I also ordered those universal front lips in white. If they look dumb I'll remove them immediately.

Unless of course anyone has suggestions on a front lip, clip, spoiler, bumper, etc that's compatible with MY2010 GL550.

Additionally, I was shocked how well the color matched. I just did paint correction all over the SUV. I sealed it with jet seal from Chemical guys. I also used it on my wheels. I dont see nearly as much brake dust as I use to.
