You might have to replace all sensors.

You might want to have it read to see which wheel speed sensor is the problem. Maybe you got a bad sensor or bad connection.

You may also see you have a code regarding the conductor plate, this would cause what you are experiencing as well.

Yes…they’ll go bad, sometimes when the battery is dying and you put a new one in.

replace in pairs front and back with genuine Mb parts and all that weirdness will go away.

do not drive until you’ve fixed this.

did you replace the bearings? I once replaced the bearings and had all lights on. It was not the correct size bearings even if theyre off by a mm theyll trigger this issue

This. If you don't use MB speed sensors, you will end up replacing them much more often. Ask me how I know.

You can buy the MB parts online but make sure they are MB OEM and not some replacement "equivalent" OEM. The symptoms are more frequent sensor changes. The aftermarket ones fit without an adapter but the quality/tolerance or whatever it is really makes a difference. Changing the sensors is not a big deal but when they fail it can cause some real safety issues since it disables the traction control and abs.

In my case it kicked on cruise control and engaged the brakes by itself too. Not fun.

I have had a few sensor issues - one had the typical replace wheel sensor and check wheel bearings etc - it was a weekend and only had the car til Sunday (daughters car) so I actually just cleaned the sensor ring area on the hub (through the sensor hole and rotated hub) with a very small wire brush - fair bit of corrosion etc (as expected) - blew it out with compressor and put back togethor

Took car for a quick run and still had error so was thinking about getting a new sensor when fired the car up again and it cleared - has not had problem again.

Another car was engaging the traction even just going slowly around yard - the live data showed that wheel doing about 140kph when other wheels only doing 5kph (true speed) - it was first time I ever had an ABS sensor not just stop reading.

Man, that is crazy. My start/stop stopped working a few weeks ago was scratching my head why. More time passed and then I started getting more lights on my dash board including the ABS. I began to think it was voltage related because I was getting some codes about low voltage at the fuel pump. I also had the alternator removed because the passenger motor mount was replaced. I replaced the voltage generator, issue still the same. Replaced main battery after failed battery test, and my start/stop started working again. However I still got the ABS issue and light at the dashboard.

So was it possible that these sensor gone bad or damaged because of a bad battery? If so, that’s is nuts.

My 2015 GL450 never gave me a battery warning.

Is it possible to reset the codes after replacing the battery and hope ABS sensors are still good?

The eco start/stop function when you stop at a red light, or stop sign.

It’s pretty similar in the sense that the wheel speed sensors usually fail after a low voltage event when a new battery is put into the system.

for example, car sat for a couple of years and ran fine until the battery quit - put in a new battery and all of the sudden you have ESP caution and the ABS is self-actuating at low speeds, and the steering feels very heavy. Change one sensor and it’ll be fine for a couple of days, until the other one on the axle burns out.

If you put cheap sensors in it happens all the time.
