2011 GL450 Suspension Question

2011 GL450 Suspension Question
I have an interesting question.
When the car is on. My suspension is level. No issues. (Airmatic)
When I turn the car off, the passenger side sags down lower than the driver side.... OK i think its a leaking airbag.
BUT then i raise the car and both are level and stay level raised until i hit the 40mph mark where the car automatically lowers.
Thoughts on what it could be? Whats throwing me off is the level staying good when raised.
Thanks

Not abnormal, at all. In fact, this gets talked about quite a bit. It all depends on where the hole is - when the bag folds in a certain way, it blocks the hole.

Arnott front strut $700 for two at rockauto, labor cost for indy shop or mobile mechanic ~ $200
dealer cost $4200 in 2014, not sure about current price. probably should be higher.

I have heard good things about the Arnott replacements with the exception that their bags aren’t rated to handle the same weight as the OEM Bilstein ones. So if you tow with you GL you might want to consider that.
I was in a similar spot a few years back and replaced the whole suspension on my 11GL550 with Bilstein components. The cheapest I found by far was an eBay seller that sold genuine, new in box parts. Not sure what the going rate is, but might be worth a look. I then found a very reputable shop via these forums and had them do the work again for much cheaper than most.
Edit: I almost forgot that I got some of the parts from an online store for way less than I could find elsewhere.

The Bilstein strut is on that Ebay shop and it's about 2x Rock Auto's price.

Btw this is the exact shock I got from Autopartskart.com and the current price is $499.93. I would be surprised if you could find it cheaper. And if you can all the more power to you and I would love to learn about this merchant for future use.

Did you check that against Rock Auto's price, which is $10 cheaper? Now, to be fair, the Rock Auto price does not include shipping, and I did not feel like navigating auto parts kart dot com's web site to check that part of the equation.
The point is not whose source is better. If you're going to recommend a parts store, do your actual homework before posting - otherwise you look like a shill, and really ought to be paying sponsorship bux to MBWorld.
Also, to anyone else reading this: If you find a screaming deal on parts, be aware that it does not take much work for someone to stuff a Chinesium part in a brand name box.
XAUTOHAUX is an example of a thinly disguised Chinesium vendor found on Amazon, which is second only to Ebay for dispensing horrible parts that fail just outside your return window.

Your points are fair and like you didn’t check the site I posted, I did not check rockauto. Which after having checked with shipping seems to be very similarly priced and is a very well known trusted site. If the price at rockauto was as good a deal at the time I ordered they would have been the clear choice for peace of mind. But at the time they were much more expensive and so I went with Autopartskart.
As you pointed out and are correct, it is very easy to get swindled by fake parts that look very similar. This is the exact reason I was trying to post vetted by me places to buy parts cheap. And I do understand how that looks coming from a brand new member to the forum. So I would hope everyone would take take any new members info with a grain of salt and verify for themselves. But it does give them a jumping off point if they do not know where to start looking.
Anyway, I appreciate you watching out for the forum. People like you elevate the forum and is one of the reasons why I joined. No hard feelings and I’ll stop derailing the thread so OP can get the info he needs.

Thanks

You have a leak that only leaks in certain positions, which is what normally happens.
The car lowers itself over 40, which is normal.
