Order Guide w/ Special Order Options
This is old (poached from the X164 threads). May not be completely accurate, but looks fairly so...special order options listed separately at the bottom. Bizarre that so many of them are small ticket items, like the wrapped bottom dash...

Anyone seen the wrapped bottom dash? Can't imagine what it looks like but for $300 may be worth it to find out? Only other item I'd probably get is the rear sunshades for the kids, though with dark tints not even a necessity.
Off topic but I really wish they would have 2nd row captians chairs as an option. Anyone have any background on why they don't?

I've sat in the ML and the only thing I didn't like compared to the x164 was all of the plastic on the lower dash. Many complained in the x164 forum about the plastic on the door panels. This option addresses that too. I'm not sure why this isn't standard.

I've seen the wrapped bottom dash in pictures. There is stitching that runs across the glove compartment, curves under the HVAC control panel and then continues up around the keyless start/stop botton. The doors also are wrapped and have stitching just below the wood trim. If you are special ordering, without a doubt add this option! It matches all of the stitching on the upper dash.

Was talking to my wife this morning, we are thinking of waiting off until spring to see if we can get the 360 cameras and the power folding seats. Definitely think I will go for the MBTex lower dash now.

My order for a GL450 with the 360 camera was accepted by the system today! The folding 2nd row seats are definitely out for this model year.

Definitely waiting to order
Couple of options I really want-the auto-fold seats and shade on pano roof. What's unfortunate is that in 2007 I ordered all (and got them) but for 2008 they stopped a couple of options altogether and some people were out of luck that way. Don't tout a feature, send it on the test car for SUVOTY and then tell the public not available!! Sorry to rant.

Well thats good to hear for those that reaaaaaaaly want it.... my build is scheduled for Dec. and i will not be putting it off to get the power fold....i might if I were younger and had kids that were going to be back there, but the manual fold has worked for two GL's and will be ok for my next one.

yes, i really wish i didn't need both automated seats and door closers, but even my 11 year old (my oldest) has trouble putting the seats down and closing the doors tightly the first try. Which is good from a safety standpoint, but also i'm impressed bc i think MB truly studied what would make the car more friendly to passengers, not just adding gimmicky items.

Does anyone know how to get the heated and cooled cup holders? Is that a GL550 item only? It was never clear to me if I would get them or not, I didn't. Not a concern to me either way, but might be helpful for others.

Not possible in conjunction with KEYLESS-GO. I believe the option has effectively been dropped until the issues can be resolved preventing having both options.

Definitely glad the electric folding seats are back on the table. My wife is small and I could tell was going to have problem with the 3rd row when we eventually need it...

Don't know what it is about my R Class doors but no one ever closes them tight the first try. I think with Mercedes-Benzes we're used to closing them a certain way but with the R Class we need to apply more pressure to get it to latch completely (and all of us are fully grown). I'd love to retrofit the soft close doors onto my car- I'd totally suggest getting it for those of you that have the luxury of ordering your car with the options you want.

Nope, definitely not there. The owner's manual (which by the way is now mostly electronic on your COMAND system shows the on/off switch just to the left of where the ashtray is in front of the cupholders.

Just close the door softly and it'll either latch and still be loose then you'll need to nudge it just slightly to have it pull the door in all the way or you'll hit the sweet spot and it'll soft close. Love this feature on the S Class.
