Auburn Brown Leather with Dakota Brown Exterior?

What do you think - will this color combo look good?

Here are the 3 combos I'm considering:

1. Dakota Brown Exterior with Auburn Brown Leather
2. Dakota Brown Exterior with Black Leather
3. Lunar Blue Exterior with Auburn Brown Leather

Concerned the Brown on Brown may look a little goofy.

Dakota Brown with Auburn Leather will look fabulous.. very elegant look, delivered 4 ML's last year with that combo... stunning and eye-catching.

Dakota Brown with Almond is quite good, but not stunning as Auburn Brwon, but a very attactive Spring/Summer combo

Dakota Brown with Black - not my thing.

Lunar Blue with Auburn - not my thing - plus I am not real enthusiatic about Lunar Blue, looks great in bright light, but in off-angle light, and in shadow or night, to me too dark.

Keep the beat !

Fab- Great input!

Does the Auburn Brown look reddish or is it more chocolate? Are these pics a fairly good representation of the true color (please note I am not getting designo as shown in the pics - I will be getting standard leather).

Brown on Brown I think would be a classy combo for these SUVs, though only seen in pics...

We have designo Autumn Brown (with Diamond White). All the pictures give a good representation of the true color. I'd say the best of the bunch is the 1st pic (of the rear seats). That's pretty much it exactly.

@co64--Did you order the wrapped lower dash? Or did it come as part of the Designo package?

Ok, so can anyone tell me if the color of the Auburn Brown Designo is the Same as the Standard Autumn Brown Leather? Sorry to be so nit picky. But, I plan on driving having this rig a long time so I want to avoid any unexpected surprises when this thing shows up.

Thank you

The standard Auburn is two-tone, lighter in the center of the seat and darker on the borders...

Is the Designo also two-tone?

Designo Auburn is a much higher grade leather than the regular Auburn option. You'll also get extended leather on the dash and door panels as well as diamond stitching on non AMG models. The hues are probably very similar to each other- they might even be a perfect match.

Two tone??? No offense X166, but can somebody please confirm this. I'm not sure a two tone brown will be my thing.

Production gets locked soon - so quick feedback appreciated.

The brown itself isn't two tone. The secondary tone is black. So the door panel is black with a brown center area. The seats are all brown. The headliner area is black. The carpet area is black....

It's just an interior that uses two colors- brown and black. But I would classify it as complementary colors rather than a two tone per se which I deem more like a seat that has two colors within the seating surface.

Designo Auburn Brown

The center panel quilted material has a slightly different feel and sheen - as it should - but yes, same color, slight contrast in feel/sheen only.

I have attached a good representation from the Dealer Order Guide.

Just don't forget - Designo Black is stupendous both look and feel - and I am not normally a black interior guy

@Otis123--I have not seen the Designo Auburn, only the regular Auburn. For the regular Auburn Leather, the "center portion of the seat back the seat bottom is ever so slightly lighter in color than the rest of the seat.

On D-Porcelian vrs D-Black : Color wise the D-Porcelain is a touch "whiter" than the the Mercedes Porcelain leather out of Germany - not a bad thing - but a difference.

On "feel" I am just daying the D-Black has this smoothness to it, especially on the quilted portion - frankly the sexiest leather I have experienced in a long time.

On D-Porcelain - very sharp look and feel, but the D-Black just has something a little extra in feel that in comparison makes the D-Por feel a little "drier".

The D-Brown gives a "fuller" standard luxury leather feel.. very rich appeal for a more "natural" leather look.

I am not trying to "sell" anyone one way or another - color is a personal choice - and due to the dye and tanning process between colors a slightly different feel is to be expectcd.

Just trying to help - keep the beat !

Exterior color options with Auburn Brown

Lots of good information here as I am close to ordering a 2014. I love the look of the designo interiors so I think I will have to get one. At first I was thinking of the porcelain before realizing just how white it was. I wish they had a grayish designo option. So, I can't see myself going white or black (just too hot here in SC). I love the look of the auburn brown, so that certainly seems like the way to go. I'm not a fan of white though it certainly seems nice on this car and pretty much all the pictures of this interior have the white exterior. I was thinking originally of the blue, but I don't think that would look right with the brown interior. At this point, I'm leaning towards the Dakota brown, but what other exterior colors would match OK with the auburn brown that we should consider?

"Go Blue" is not my thing for the GL exterior.

Of the GL Designo interiors - personally - Black Designo matched with Black Piano Lacquer trim and Piano Lacquer wheel is to die for.

Designo Auburn, with Satin Ash makes a very distinctive interior cabin statement - especially if your personal taste runs to Vuitton or similar in your personal accessory statement.

Dakota Brown exterior - distinctive and "warm" exterior color - you either love it or not.

What is a bit unusual in ownership sense - my daughter has a special GLK originally ordered by MBUSA VP but German working here to his personal spec - probably the most loaded GLK ever - on her end a $61K GLK (yes, Distornic Plus, etc) - not Designo but with with Brown premium leather interior in exterior Iridium Silver - sounds yucky - but frankly a very elegant combo to own/enjoy.

My point here is I would have never thought that silver/brown combo would be as pleasant to own/drive as it really is - wouldn't have struck me that way if I was to build.

With Auburn Designo - distinctive cabin statement with Satin Ash - which I think is buildable - I wouldn't dismiss Iridium Silver as a exterior choice - based on my experience with my daughters GLK

Just my thoughts..

Thanks for the update. We like that silver exterior and hearing that it will look good with the brown is encouraging. That is our new top choice. Have you got a posted picture of that car? I'd love to see it.

It's not exactly the same but I came across this matrix of designo colors for the CLS (http://www.benzblogger.com/wp-conten...gno-matrix.jpg) and it does show the auburn brown as a recommended combination with a gray/silverish exterior.

It also looks like there are 2 new silver options for 2014 and maybe the Palladium Silver would be even better.

2021 GLS580 all black. 2014 GLK black (kids car). formerly: 2014 GL550 Palladium Silver (US)
Thanks for the perspective on Iridium Silver + Auburn Brown. I've been considering that exact combination.

Be careful about that blogger Designo matrix - not the color pallet for SUV's - "looks" to be color pallet for roadsters...

That matrix is for the CLS so it's not like those are the actual colors at all, it's just interesting that it shows a brown interior (if they call it auburn brown in one class would that be the same color in all classes?) recommended with a gray/silver exterior. It's clearly neither exactly iridium or paladium but it looks kind of close to paladium to me though presumably with a matte finish. A pic of that exterior is also there: http://www.benzblogger.com/wp-conten...anite-Grey.jpg

Sorry - to me that blogger post is unintentionally misleading - yes, to me a CLS AMG matte finish ...
