Easy Entry Moveable Headrest in '14 GL 450
These pics show how much movement you have with the easy entry headrests. Got a question about this so I thought these might help.
**Update: Finally got them to post right side up!!

It would be much easier to determine if MB actually made a change if your pics were right-side up. Please post them again in the proper orientation.

@JoeMa they are right side up on my computer but when I post them they keep loading upside down. I guess I can turn them upside down and maybe they will post right side up

Those pics are the same for my 2013. They tilt forward but not back, which is the problem.

Nothing has been changed in the MY14's, the headrest do NOT swivel back flush with the seat as they do with models that do NOT have the EASY ACCESS option. The problem remains!

Here is picture of the headrest on a standard seat (without the POWERED EASY ACCESS option).
Note that it swivels all the way back and would not cause any issue for a small child or safety-seat.

Seems like the solution should be to order the non-easy entry headrests from parts, and have them switched out? Then just need to remember to lower the headrests before hitting the button?

fyi, my dealer said that power entry does not automatically come with P1.
I noticed that the configurator has been updated with some different trims, so it may be updated for my14. if that is the case, power entry is still a separate option.

I'm kind of upset that I only found out about this at the last minute in my 2014 GL ordering process. My dealer is telling me that since we are only 3 weeks from build date they can't make any changes to my order to remove the power easy entry. Guess I'm stuck with them.

You are correct, MB did in fact remove the Power EASY-ENTRY feature from the P1 package because it is now listed as a stand-alone option on the web site. This likely in response to the continuing complaints from owners with small children and/or child safety seats. I would think they are working a solution by now.

I have deleted easy entry from my order.

I started to think about how I use my third seat in the X5. I always check what's on the seat to make sure nothing gets smashed or messes up the seat. I think a button used by kids that don't think first could be a problem so I'm happy to exclude it and have more comfortable/adjustable headrests.

The headrests from the standard 2nd row seat are not interchangeable with "EZ Entry" headrests - distance between "rods" is different, and "rods" are different diameter.
For this with EZ-Entry dealer can "unclip" the rods from the motor mechanism in about 45 shop minutes if they have already done it once - that way EZ-Entry headrest can either be removed or moved manually from down-to-full-up position manually only.
Keep the beat !

Confirms my decision to delete the easy entry. Honestly it only lets you in the back row - you still have to flip the seat up once you are there. Half the time my kids exit the car and slam the door while I am saying "put the seat back". They don't hear me and I either have to suffer with the seat noise or accelerate hard to get the seat to lock in.

I still think you are doing the write thing opting not to get the option, I wish I had know this would have been an issue when I ordered 9 months ago...

Just received my '14 GL350 today. I am very upset after putting my children in the back to find that my 6 year old in a booster seat can't sit up straight because of the headrest. It goes forward and hits him in the head. I have the easy entry seats that didn't come with the P1. They are an extra option because I have a Suburban and the auto fold down is a must for me and the children to get to the 3rd row. But...I am not sure if I need to return the car because this is uncomfortable and not safe. What in the world? For a company that specializes in safety, and a family car, this is not good.

I would return it. All of my kids ages 6-9-12-14 and myself had an issue.
BTW there is another thread on this board about this.
Good luck - let us know how it works out. And if your dealer says they can just remove the pin, MBUSA told me they have not authorized that "fix". Simply put they have not tested the vehicle with that modification.

GL EZ-Entry issue
GL2013 same issue with 2nd row headrests. My 5 and 7 year old kids can't sit straight. Called MB to start aformal complaint...make a long story short...they told me to "get lost". Called DOT sefty department to report... They told me to check for those issues before buying a car...lovely...no help there either. Anyway, the second row headrests design with EZ-Entry option is a joke. If you have children, they will not be able to sit straight...mine kids are sitting with their heads tilted almost 45 deg either to the left or the right of the center of the sets Well praying each day not to get into any accident as their sefty belt is also improperly attached due to their sitting position. Have anyone over 6' tall tried to seet in the second row with EZ-Entry option? I bet tall folks will have issue with the headrests as well.
Like the car, but this is the last MB I will own. I was getting ready to buy 2014 S class in a couple of months, but with this horible MB costumer support it is not going to happen...Should spend $145k and get my dream car - Maserati GT convertible instead of GL and keep my 4 years old MDX.
