Or does this have to be installed at the factory? Dealer says it's done at the dealership but I don't trust him lol.

Also my dealer doesn't know how to order that sunscreen for the 3rd row sunroof.

I dont they come from factory, maybe the GL63 but the rest sure dont.

GL63 comes with cheap plastic door lock pins. I had dealer replace them with the aluminum pins with "AMG" on the top. Looks MUCH better. I think it's only a screw off screw on installation.

Its actually very interesting, the design of those ugly standard door pins - no carisma at all. I'm ordering these soon...

It's funny, I have been investigating upgrading my Dodge RAM 2500 Cummins. These darn things are getting into MB pricing ranges if they're configured nicely! As I was looking at options, I found myself seeing a lot of Daimler functions still find their way into the RAM (rain sensing windshield wipers, autodim headlamps, etc.).

The sunscreen should come with your car - mine did (late October).

I was told by the dealer that the front pins screw, but the rear doors require door to be dissassembled. It is a dealer option.

I prefer the BMW design where the pins were minimal - when locked, they were below the door. To unlock, you open the handle twice.

The dealer installed mine.

What did they charge you to replace them? I just checked with my dealer today and they were clueless about getting them or how to replace them.

Also, has anyone swapped them out themselves of the GL450? Does the door have to be disassembled?

I ordered them from the Parts Department and no cost to install.

I might be missing something. How do back passengers unlock their door with the AMG pins? It seems like they are too low to grab. Or is there another way to self unlock a back door?

I just received my '15 GL and had ordered the dealer installed AMG pins. Upon picking up my vehicle over the weekend I was told that they attempted the install but that they did not fit the car (either too long or too short for front and back). Has anyone else had this problem and found an alternative?

Since they only charged me for the pins, my guess is that they underestimated the install work (rear door disassembly) and only tried screwing them in. It seems like some of you have had success with the install and was wondering if there are any resources I can point them to which confirms that this should work and instructions on how to do the install.

I know these are first world problems but flimsy black plastic door pins like this should not be on a vehicle of this quality (and price).

They should put these pins in every vehicle. The plastic ones are just horrible for these expensive vehicles.

Had the dealer do mine before delivery. Had them screwed down a bit more than marsh1's photo so they sit flush when locked. And the driver works the locks so the passengers don't even worry about them.

My wife thinks I'm crazy, but after a years of different MB vehicles, it's the small details that make the difference, like the pins, the pedals and the wrapped dash. Now if only I could get the motivation to get the calipers powder coated. Always wanted that on my ML's

Went to the dealer to order pins to make this change myself. Paid $40 per pin.

Parts man did not realize they came in different sizes for my vehicle(2014 E350) - he thought they were the same.

I can confirm that the front pins are longer than the rear.

I can confirm the front will twist off -- will require a pair of pliers to grab and twist counter clockwise --- keep twisting...it will twist free.

I can confirm rear plastic pins are pulled off - require a strong firm constant tug applied with some twisting.

I can confirm this does not require door panel removal.

New pins screw on the front - may want to use some Loctite. Rear pins will seen an epoxy or a gel super glue to hold in place.
