When I use POI, and type in Costco, it leads me all the way to a Costco in WA, although I am thousands of miles away...

Yes…..it is, compared to other systems on various other vehicles.

I think Audi has the best interface. The COMAND is pretty bulky, and a little unorganized.

+1 for the Audi. In my A7 I could always have the NAV screen up and press the voice button and say "Call Home" or whoever. I did not have to go to the telephone screen first. Command is cumbersome for that reason mostly. Nav guidance and so on is good once you are in there. The 3D mapping when I am in the city is cool but I would rather have the Google Earth setup my Audi had. But I use the Nav about once a month so not a deal breaker.

My 2014 Ford Fusion "my sync" powered by Microsoft is the simplest and most efficient I have ever owned!

I owned a 2010 Lexus LS460 that had a touch-screen Nav that was very easy to use.

This conversation is exactly why all vehicles need to support systems like Apple's new CarPlay. Your smartphone will always be more up-to-date with changing roads and POI's. And frankly my iPhone does a much better job of navigation than most cars. I hope MB offers a way to utilize CarPlay by years-end. Imagine pressing the talk button on your MB steering wheel and telling Siri where you want to go:

"I need directions to 109 Main Street Lancaster PA" - then off you go with beautifully rendered maps.

Or

"Send a text to Sally"

Siri: "What would you like say?"

"I'm on my way and will be there in about 15 minutes"

Siri: "Are you ready to send?"

"Yes"

Or

"Play Deacon Blues by Steely Dan"

Ultimately this is the direction car telecom has to be going…..interface with the smartphone. The "in-car"systems cannot match ( well they could….but the initial as well as the on-going costs are prohibitive ) so….more car companies are going to assume drivers have smart phones and will use technology to put those capabilities up on the in-car screen.

I dislike the MB Nav so much I always bring my Garmin as my back up. Simple inputs are a chore and many average locations are not shown. Try finding a NAPA autostore, etc... But if your looking for the better Zagat rated restaurants in the area, it is great!

I wish car manufacturers would just team up with the likes of Garmin and keep it simple.

Command is hands down the worst. I loathe using it, but it's a necessary evil...

I send the address to the car using the MBrace app and google maps and it works fine. All the other stuff works fine. Even just using the nav by itself is OK. yes there are others that work better, but saying it is "very hard" to use is overstating IMHO.

Waze is interactive. Waze users can indicate where there's a speed trap, an accident, traffic etc... I like the app a lot and it's free.

Today while at service I asked the SA if they update the Nav Maps. He said I had to buy the CD for about $250 to update the maps. What a Croc! Told him I'd prefer to just keep my trusty Garmin that comes with Lifetime Map updates.
