DVD in Motion Vs. Video in Motion
Hi all,
I was looking for options for my front passenger to enjoy watching dvds while the car is in motion. I saw two options: DVD in motion and Video in Motion. The first option (DVD in motion) seems to be software based solution that bypasses the DVD video playback limitations while the car is in motion. The second option is a physical module made by Mid City Engineering that is a plug and play.
I rather use the software and not worry about physically placing a module into the car.
Has anyone have experience with the DVD in motion? Any worries about voiding the Warranty on the GL?
Any insight will be appreciated.

On my 2009, I installed a Naviks module behind the head unit. Very easy to install and works great. Not sure if they have a unit for 2013+ or not, but I don't think the COMAND units are that different. You hit the "hang up" button to activate it. Only downside is when it's activated, the nav isn't accurate since it thinks you are standing still and not moving.

Well, gee a 2009 GL COMAND and 201$ COMAND are different NTG version, sorry.
Now to the OP's question , it's a hardwire hack/add-on, contact MidCity Engineering they are reputable source..

Not trying to say a 2009 unit is going to work on a 2013+. Of course they are different versions, but they aren't radically different. Just trying to point out that I had good luck with that product and maybe they have an updated product. And that it was easy to install a hardwired module behind the head unit since the OP was concerned about that. It was cheaper and seemed easier to install that MCE when I researched it at the time. Just trying to help.

Hey Shellbmb, that was our group buy at the time - worked like a charm.

Has anybody purchased this DVD in Motion and successfully unlocked your GL X166? Interested in being able to control DVD menus while in motion from the Command.
