I assume it is a rendering of the next full model update due around 2019. At a minimum it demonstrates how the S550 could influence the next design.

its been that big since 1998 when the ML came out, same thing with the R Class and first gen GL and the G Class since the beginning of time.

A warm greet for the UAE.
I just received a mail from my friendly dealer, he told me that he received the info that first build date for the GLS will be July 2016.
No infos yet about price.
The big question is, if it's worth to wait for or not
????

Nearly every online source is pointing to this Fall for the 2016 GLS refresh. A few point to Spring 2016. But July 2016 for 2016 model? Doesn't seem passible.
Maybe your dealer is hoping to sell you a 2015 model right now! ;-)

I like the design and the price is ok if you compare it with the other suv which are being sold over here. And he knows I won't buy one until at least end of the year
Maybe I'm lucky 
Maybe we get preference overhere because the sell lot of suv in the UAE

The 2016 model will be available late summer early fall 2015. It will include the new NAV and updated headlights. Not sure if the name will change to GLS but expect a refreshed 2016 later this year.

I think what people are alluding to is that "consensus" is misinformed at the moment. Mercedes said a refreshed GL/GLS would be introduced in 2015 but that doesn't mean it will be sold in 2015. The blogs ran with Mercedes' comment and introduced conjecture (GLS on sale in 2015) that is now being taken for reality.

. Time will tell as I am due delivery of the 2016 late summer/fall with these additions, maybe Canada gets it ahead of the rest.

I don't think your dealer is trying to deceive. I just think no one knows and that he's basing his opinion (on what might happen and when) from whatever media sources he's privy to.
Mine said I can expect headlights to change, some interior revisions, etc. for the 2016 model year due to arrive in Aug 2015 or so. Then, he handed me a printout of an article from some blog (forget which one) dated July 2014 that said more/less what he was telling me.
Then I brought to his attention the MB circular that was sitting on his desk (lol) that said it would be MY17 not 16.
Who knows..I do enjoy speculating and guessing, much like you, Joe.

i think they'll def want the ground up new model out by 19, i would think, since the x7 will be out for 2018. so if that's true, refresh for 16 makes more sense than 17

If that is the case we should be seeing a lot at the NYC show next month. GLE and the GLS. Then the GLC in June outside of a major auto show. They did say that almost all of their SUVs would be updated this year, only the G is being left alone since it got a refresh for 2013.
