Lane tracking symbol in 350/500

Hi guys,
I had a 350BT with a lane keeping assist and the multifunction display showed a symbol, when cameras detected lane markings. I recently bought a 500 (550 for you) with active lane keeping assist and there is no symbol anymore indicating that the systen is seeing lane markings. It does however vibrate the steering wheel and even correct back to the lane but can I trust it being active all the time without the symbol? Any ideas did they just drop the symbol or should I look into it with a dealer?

Thanks!

Generally by just switching your vehicle on to key position 2 before you start it, it will illuminate all the icons on the instrument cluster. If your new vehicle has a switch on the side of the steering wheel near the exterior light switch, they may no longer have an icon in the cluster, however I am almost certain that the icons for any of the assist systems should be on in the cluster when activated or active.

Great tip, I have to check that one. I found some threads referring to the symbol but hopefully someone with 550 can confirm absence or presence of it.

My 2013 GL550 has it. It does turn green when it recognizes the lines in the road. It will vibrate the steering wheel if it senses that you are going to cross the line and brings up a picture in the display of the truck along with red lines depending on which side of the road you are drifting too far. But it does not correct the action and try to bring you back into your lane.

OK, I think I figured it out after reading a lot of different forums; 2014 models don't have green car symbol anymore and also lack symbol for collision prevention assist but both systems are working. Did more testing today and my lane keeping assist is working left and right just fine, I just don´t know anymore can it read the lane markings. Wonder why they decided at MB to go this path...

2014 models (at least US models) definitely have the lane symbol in the cluster that turns green when lines are detected. You probably have it switched off. This is from the 2014 owner's manual:

Well, I have to live with no-symbols but working system; MB service could not confirm symbol being removed on purpose but at the same time was not able to explain why the symbol is not there. There are like three GL500 (X166) in the whole country, so I'm basically riding a unicorn in their eyes...

Must be a European thing to not have that symbol. In mine, it won't turn green until doing at least 40 mph and recognizing lines in the road.

Did you try following the steps I outlined above from the owner's manual to make sure it is turned on?

Yes Dave, I have. All I see in my cluster are two lines, which I think are the same ones when you have distronic on.

There is also no symbol for collision prevent, which replaced the blue P-symbol after reaching 40km/h in my 2013 GL350. When I de-activated all assists, I see de-activated symbol in assistance graphic for only collision prevent and attention assist. Don't tell me you can see all active and passive systems in your assistant graphic, because mine is blank when all assist are on?

Here's what mine looks like with lane keep assist turned on. If your truck actually has the feature, I have a feeling that you have it turned off.
