Main Screen Retrofit to 9" with CarPlay

The ebay seller only has a few feedback, but I went ahead and bought one. He was in contact quickly and asked my year and model and then asked for a phone number for DHL. I also saw one on amazon under the brand Road Top, but it was a new seller with a longer ship time. Amazon has good buyer protection also, but new international sellers can be more sketchy.

I actually offered $700 on the ebay link that Chedman listed at first. Thankfully they rejected it and didnt even counter offer at all. I had to take the GL to the dealer for a little warranty work and knew I would be without it for a little so I wasn't in a hurry (didn't think they would have it 10 days, and I still have to take it back for a back ordered part). I didnt want to order it on aliexpress and was hoping more would pop up on amazon or ebay. I guess I will find out in a few weeks if it was worth the gamble.

I'm very interested, can one of you guys do an HD video review of the device in operation? I'm curious to see the video output of the camera and menu sceen's resolution in full outdoor lighting. Since its Android can the brightness be adjusted in the menu's?

In the pics of the 500 $ one on eBay, the icons are in Chinese. Does thenscreen you bought all show up
in English? I’m looking to order one ASAP. Please let me know what’s the best option to purchase, or are they all the same from different sellers?

Different sellers, different mark-ups.
All the same buy the cheapest one.
You can change the language.
brightness can be controlled like almost tablets.

I've been hearing that the screen resolution on those units isn't all that great and that it's worse than the stock unit. It probably has something to do with the use of cheap RCA video inputs. I would imagine that the tablets would be capable of high definition if HDMI or Component inputs were used by the developers instead. It sucks that they are using 40 year old technology in a unit like that.

I was checking to see if the seller entered a DHL tracking today and noticed another one sold and figured it was someone on here. I didn't mention my offer was $450 that was accepted because I didn't want to **** off Chedman any further. lol

Not sure if I am missing something, but my new screen wont turn on. Does the small black plug into the original screen not get used for anything?
I removed the big harness into the head unit and removed the 2 orange wires and plugged the big plug into the new harness and plugged the orange wires back into the head unit and the new harness into the back of the head unit.
The round blue plug from the original screen goes into the new small harness.
The radio works along with the controls on the head unit but have zero display on the new screen. Any ideas?

I'm in the same boat lol, what did you do with the second wire that went into the original head unit? I can't find anywhere for this one? And being that it plugged into the original I am assuming it's important. Did you figure it out?

My new screen has never powered on. I unhooked the new screen and wire harnesses and rewired the factory screen to make sure something wasn't inadvertently unhooked and the factory equipment worked. I then tried the new screen again and got the same results. The head unit controls work and the audio works but the new screen doesn't power on at all. I didn't see anything about using the black plug from the factory screen so I wasn't sure if the new screen was supposed to be getting power from the new large harness or if I was missing something with the small black plug pictured above.

I don't think I used that plug either. All the wires which plugged into the radio before go back on. Make sure that the big block plug is properly plugged in and locked.
Make sure that the optical plug was swapped over to the aftermarket block plug (in the proper place).
Your screen is DOA (which I doubt), or you both missed something.

I've also tried everything as well can't get power. I'm assuming maybe this harness is for a different year. I know the 13 and 15' look a little different on the back of the main radio part so maybe there's a slight difference. I can't find anywhere to plug in that wire that brought power to the original oem screen??? I've given up for today and hooked it back up stock :-(
