I cracked the windshield while changing wiper blades

Just a word of caution so you don't do what I did and crack your windshield. STUPID ME. While trying to pull of the wiper blade, the arm snapped back down on the windshield and cracked it. Not a small chip or anything but multiple cracks requiring the replacement of the windshield. Suggest you put a big piece of foam or a pillow on the windshield when changing it.
I've decided to go through my insurance ($500 deductible) to get it replaced with an OEM Mercedes windshield.
Will keep you posted.

1. Switch to a new insurance company (in my case, Progressive to Geico).
2. Set your new insurance to zero ($0) deductible.
3. File a claim.
4. After windshield is replaced and paid by new insurance, change your deductible back to $500 (or whatever you had before).
Results: Zero ($0) out of pocket. Lower premium and better coverage (Note: do the math before you switch. Results may vary). No increase in premium due to "one accident forgiveness" from new insurance.

Insurance industry is one of the few industries that never loses money. As soon as their profits fall below their liking, they’ll just raise the premiums to maintain profitability.
Just my 2 cents.
