Front Bumper Lower Grille Removal Help

Hi All

I want to remove the lower grilles and the chrome DRL surrounds from my GL63 so I can have the chrome blacked out to match the exterior of the vehicle, anyone know if these can come out without having to remove the whole bumper cover?

I watched a YouTube video of a C Class and it was a simple screw removal then lift out to the unclip the two parts but mine doesnt appear to have any hidden screws, unless theyre very well hidden LOL. I can see tabs where the chrome DRL’s lock into place but dont want to pull out with a trim removal tool to find ive damaged the slots they clip back into?

Any advice really appreciated.

Thanks

Carl

Picture just to show the DRL cover Im talking about.

Hey Carlos,

I'm trying to do the same thing. Did you ever get any advice on this? Part of me must wants to use a plastic interior trim removal tool and pry a corner up just to see what happens.

No, didnt get any advice but during a recent detail I talked to the guys there about wrapping the chrome trims and he thought they might pry out, but wasnt certain.

One of mine was a touch loose and like you Im thinking of trying, are you braver than me LOL

Exactly what I was thinking. Lol. I saw an exploded version of the front bumper and it looks like they are just clipped in. BUT, as with everything in these cars, every detail is over engineered. Thanks for the reply.

Here is what WIS says:

Be very careful as I tried to do this and the chrome cover for the AMG style cars on my GL550 was very brittle and some tabs were broken.

Did this work? I have to replace the plastic lens due to rock damage from some a-hole dropping rocks on the freeway.
