2013 GL450 Low Boost P0299
Also, they say it is due to the turbo linkage binding. Has anyone had this issue before? They want $12k to fix this. It seems like there has to be a better option to fix this if it's the linkage.
Thanks for your help!
I would take the car to an independent mechanic and see if they can replace the wastegate actuator/rod by itself without removing the engine. The rod itself is removable, the question is can you get to it.
But if it's the linkage on the turbo that the actuator rod connects to that is binding - then the turbo needs to be replaced and the engine has to come out.
Good luck!

Course that code is generic for under boost so the cause of your boost loss may be diff but worth a check. The part is listed as $67, labor was $405, covered by the warranty we had.
Link to part for $30ish and diagram, no affiliation with site: https://www.mboemparts.com/oem-parts...ube-2780980789

Front upper control arm bushings job was $1300 with local dealership here in Houston. My deductible $100.
The car is 2015 GL450. My dealer diagnosed the same issue. P029900 (The boost pressure of Turbocharger 1 is too low). Guided test showed Y77/1 Valve does not have correct duty cycle. They removed vacuum lines from turbocharger was gates. Vacuum tested waste gates found right side holds pressure but left side leaks down.
Obviously, they suggest to replace the whole turbo. Any suggestion where to check first? There was another theme where people told to check the actuators. On both sides (left and right turbochargers) there is a small backlash when the car is not running. When I start the car I can see both rods on left and right actuators slightly move but not only forward/backward but also up/down. This is barely noticeable.
I'd appreciate any help.

I saw an interesting video on Tasos Moschatos great channel, where he took one of the actuators and it was filled with oil. He said he didn't know why it happens but they get oil in there. I did a vacuum test and it holds for a while and then slowly loses vacuum. Hoping that's the cause.

Hi everyone,
I was experiencing the same low boost issue and had a similar error code. The dealer quoted me $8,000 for repairs, claiming the turbo needed replacement. After doing some research, I decided to replace the turbo wastegate actuator instead. After making that change, I noticed that all the power has returned!
However, the engine light is still on as a "stored code P0299." Do I need a specific scanner to clear this code? I tried using a basic scanner, but it didn’t work. My car is running great otherwise, and I’ve ordered an iCarsoft scanner to see if it can help clear the stored code.
Has anyone else encountered this issue? Any advice would be appreciated!
Thanks!
