original air intake lost adhesive
while i was getting B7 service done, mechanic told me that my intake (the coil-y part in the middle) hose was all opened up and recommended that i either duck tape them or replace them.
it seemed like an easy install so i told him that i'd do it myself. it turns out the OEM part + labor was not too far off from what he quoted me. i found one online for about $90 with shipping cost.
i've heard of after market cold air intake and things, but does anyone have any recommendation on air intake parts other than OEM?
i vaguely know that air intake supplies air to engine for combustion so better air intake can lead to better performance and mileage. let me know if you have any good recommendation. mine is faulty on the left side one.

My cure
Way to expensive for this poorly designed part. Go to hardware store, buy heavy duty flexible dryer vent, 2 clamps. Clean the old flex hose out of the plastic fittings, decide the location you want the clamps then cut about an inch slot on both plastic pieces. This slot will allow the clamp to set lower to clamp the flex hose. Cut the flex hose to length, cut, install. Maybe $10 bucks.

while the original fabric part was just warm. i wonder if the heat does not do any good to the car or engine? i haven't actually switched over to dryer vent. should i just use the tape that doesn't get heated up as much and just call it at that?
