My fix is forever, works on any/all of the eight problem plugs, no matter how much they leak.

I don't know how much oil I've collected, but a couple ounces I spoze? With the vacuum on them it's no doubt sucking out more oil than it would normally. All I know for sure is I had cam plugs full of oil, but after all this time my ECU plug is bone dry. Yes it's a redneck fix, but those are my favorite, especially when they're cheap and work better than anything else :p Maybe the problem is very few Benz owners are rednecks and I'm virtually all alone here Still, I'd imagine many people don't feel like spending $10k on replacing the harness of a car worth 10-20K, so I guess I'll just wait it out and see.
Unless I am missing something, it is sacrificial, as in when you see oil hitting the pigtail, you change it to stop the capillary action that results in oil in the ECU. Rinse and Repeat.

I just googled the pigtails and they now also make the adjuster pigtails, and they're both much cheaper than when I did my mod. So I rekon most people would go with that option. I guess my mod is outdated

yes, this was a case where the aftermarket came up with a decent solution to the overpriced Mercedes solution. I just bought 16 connectors for about 40 bucks. This allows me to cover any point in the wiring harness with two or three pin connections. Mercedes does not acknowledge leaking into the wiring harness from anywhere but the CPS which is why they don’t provide “connectors” for the solenoids or the oil control valve. Plastic is not the future many thought it would be.

My personal opinion is that if a sensor is leaking oil into its connector that sensor is compromised and must be replaced. Using a pigtail is a good way to ensure that if it fails it won't weep past the pigtail.

Replacing all 4 sensors, while not cheap, it is not prohibitively expensive (price of a single high end tire).

NewB: I'm too tight to replace the sensors :p I did have to replace one that died, which was $27 from RockAuto. I'm way too tight to buy oem

I never thought this thread would be like a documentary of this problem that is now widely known.

Ok, I still have this truck. This vehicle has provided so much anxiety as it has aged to the point it is hardly driven. I have only around 63k miles. Checked the connectors and they were dry, but it still has some rough vibrations at idle and over 70 mph. I do not believe that pigtails were installed when this was previously repaired. Can someone confirm for me?

And then lastly, I seem to have a Coolant leak. Anyone seen this before:

I see no pigtails. Just oem wires.

As for the leak, it's hard to tell, especially since your radiator looks different than mine. If it were me I'd just clean it so you can get a better feel for when it leaks again. If it were me, I wouldn't even worry about it unless I was loosing coolant, but it would be nice to see where's it's coming from.
If it still makes a mess all over the place after cleaning then my go-to is to pack the area with paper towels so the air can't blow it around, then pull them off to see where it's wet.

I am curious about that black gunk in the pix. And what is that part anyway? Is that just a mounting point for the radiator or is there a radiator cap hidden under there?
I would also suggest AlumAseal to seal the leak, which I've used since I was 16, but it seems it's discontinued. I can't imagine why because it was awesome, cheap, and didn't make a mess. It was simply Aluminum powder fyi. It gets into and clogs up any hole. They make a liquid version, which makes me wonder if they did that just to charge more $.

To look around the sensor isn't enough, mine where perfectly dry and clean around, exactly like on your picture, but as I plugged it out I realized they were leaking from inside , the 3 pins where full of oil.... 2 or 3 pins in eco plug also oily contaminated with motor oil......don't ask me how the oil can travel to the ecu..

pull the grey tab out for about 2 or 3 mm , then push it down and pull up the connector
